So I've learned that she is indeed single, yet she's constantly stressing over what she's gonna do after she graduates, whether it be graduate school or service or getting a job or a combination of all the above. I'm thinking I should probably wait until she figures it out to some extent and calms down a little before asking her...am I wrong in my train of thought? Or should I go for it and give her someone to lean on during this decision process? I'm just afraid it won't go anywhere if all she sees me as is a support system right now.

my story about it is too long, so i posted the whole story and such on my blog, if you please check it, you'll understand what's going on with me.

but let me shorten it:

i liked a close friend of mine for like a whole year now. she was a friend of mine since fresh year of high school; i even had a crush on her then but it drew away we flirted a lot and so on but also had good, fun conversations. until last year (july 2008) where it sparked again that my feelings became strong for her.

since last year we hung out a lot, just the two of us and i always drew gestures that showed my interest for her. ( played her songs on guitar and wrote her letters) and even surprised her on valentines day(at which all of them she liked). as months passed, i was having the urge to ask her out legitimately but as i approached her best friend about it, she told me not to but, me being stubborn i got out of her that she started seeing someone. so for the past couple of months i haven't been myself. i've been at my worst now and it's hard to move on.

i tried keeping a no contact rule during the summer but seeing her through inevitable events made me break it the rule. i realized that i rather have her in my life than not.

im asking how do i get over her (being a close friend)?
or should i hang on?

or even stories from other people and how they dealt and gotten over it.

So 4 months ago, I started dating the coolest girl that I've ever met. She's a single mom, I'm a single dad, with custody of my kids. I have a feeling I might have been the rebound guy. We started dating and we totally clicked. We seriously share a brain. Finish each other's sentences, etc. All of a sudden she started growing distant. She said that I am like her BFF. I have a feeling that I was a little clingy which is TOTALLY unlike me. I'm usually so calm, cool and collected. I never cared if a girl liked me or not. I don't know what brought on or why it was this girl that it happened with. My buddies all say that she's cute, but that I have dated way cuter. I'm a 45yo long time divorced father. I raised my four daughters by myself after my wife left over 7 years ago. She did not want any responsibilities regarding the kids. My fiancé and I have ben togather nearly two years and I'm just not happy anymore. Honestly I wasnt happy after one year I told her this and tried to end the realationship, but she started crying and begging, I felt so bad I couldnt.(I'm very aware this makes me a weak person) I care about her enough to not want to hurt her but I must to leave so I can be happy.

As if that wasnt enough on the plate, we now have a 4 month old son.(I am 21 and she is 20, and yes I know it was stupid to have a child this young) I love my son to death, and it will pain me very much to have to have shared custody.( I grew up with out a father but thats not a story for here.) Anyway, I have tried multiple times to leave but it's always the same.

The main reasons I'm not happy in this realationship are, her jeaoulsy and controling ways. I have dated jealous women before, but hers is extreme. The only women I can talk to and not get my head chewed off for are My mom and my sister, plus her mom and sisters. I have many long time(6 years plus) female friends who I have turned my back on for the sake of this realationship. She tells me how I should look/act/speak. (she got with me knowing I was a lower class "Metal head")

In the past year I have been so moody and down it drives me crazy. I do care for her alot, but at this point I don't belive I can honestly say I'm in love with her. Topping all of this off another woman is constenly on my mind. An ex of mine( ok quite frankly my first serious Gf) who I was talking to again, right before I got with my current.

I know I want to leave, I know its going to be hard, but at this point in my life she has cut me off from all of my friends so I have no one who I can confide in for advice or someone to simply just talk to. I met this women in 2 months ago through my sister. We hit it off the first night and she came back to my place. We made out all night and talked, but never slept with her( I think I fell in love that day). The next day went to the movies. Saw one more time the week after then I was gone for a month in the desert and only got to talk to her once the entire time. I am in the military, so it makes starting a relationship tuff. I was gone the entire month of July. I drove down 2 hours where she lived the day I got back and had dinner. That was 2 weeks ago. Last weekend when I was in the area for 4 days. Whenever a guy likes me I find him unappealing. I have no idea why. A friend of mine liked me for two years. I had a thing for him, but he always made it clear how he felt about me so I didn't want to act on my feelings. He moved a few months ago and I could kick myself for never being with him because we had insane chemistry.

Another more recent example begins in high school. I was friend with this guy and we liked each other off and on for four years. I would like him whenever he had a girlfriend and he would like me when he didn't have one. He asked me to every school dance and whenever I'd turn him down he would go with someone else and I would get jealous. He was away at college for two years and just moved back. I missed him while he was gone, but now I am no longer interested!

The guy I can't stop thing about now is my neighbor who is a jerk. I don't want to like him, but I can't help it.

Ok, I'm sorry if this will be a bit long, I'll try to keep it to just the details but would like some advice.

Ok, I go to a lot of movies, it's late I'm at a mall waiting for about 35 more minutes till I go into the cinema. I'm minding my own business and I look over and see this woman looking over at me from this nearby restaurant right in the area. I look back again and she is looking at me, she then says to me.

'Whats wrong you look sad'

I smiled and told her that I was fine, I was just waiting for my movie to start. She smiles, I smile and she goes back to her work. She then looks over again and says to me

'so what movie are you going to see'

I then tell her the name of the film and she smiles and says, 'oh cool, I've wanted to see that film also'

She smiles and says be right back and she comes back and asks me about my work and what I do for a living. I tell her and she tells me what she is going to school for. At that point I walk right up to her and we start chatting more.

So far so good right ? Or so I thought.. She then sits down at a table for a moment and we talk. She is someone that I found very attractive, very well spoken and had a lot to share about herself and her goals. As she is sharing some things with me she begins to drop things that she is holding and says 'oh I don't know why I'm so clumsy today' 'I'm usually not like that' I just smiled at her and we continued to chat but I didn't know what to make of the fact that she dropped some things at least 3 times as we chatted.

She then had to get back to work, she got off work soon. I asked her if she would like to go to the movie with me because she mentioned that she was off work soon. The reason I asked her was because she kept telling me how much she wanted to see the film and we seemed to get along well in our chat.

The moment I asked her, she got this wide eyed look and says to me.

I'm a reporter in a small town, and in June met the young 30ish male mayor of a small village closeby. (I cannot describe in words how attractive this man is) As part of my job, I attend town and village board meetings, and Monday night went to my first in his village. I'm apt to think this impossibly handsome man might be attracted to me, but I've been single since 2005 - I don't know how to read men anymore. I'll summarize the "signs" that make me think attraction:
1. Leaned forward during an interview in a gesture to touch my leg, which was nearest to him at the time, but instead diverted and touched the arm of the chair.
2. The Tuesday after the meeting, he emailed me not to tell me anything particular, but actually said pretty much nothing of significance. At 10:20 p.m.
3. (And this may be my imagination) I find there's a certain "quality" in his eyes and expression when he looks at me.
4. Has told jokes then looked in my direction to see if I'm laughing.

This is childish behavior for a 26-year-old woman, but I can't help myself. Guys, am I making this up out of wishful thinking or am I on to something here?

I've recently become quite interested in a woman from my work place. The catch is she's in a relationship albeit a very unhappy one. I had decided that I didn't want to get into "the friend zone" and resolved to tell her I was looking for more then just friends. However she had a very rough 2 weeks prior to the day I told her this and it culminated with her boyfriend going through her cell phone messages and texts. What he saw didn't make him happy (just guy friends texting her and saying hey - apparently she's not allowed to have male friends). My boyfriend of over a year an 1/2 and I broke up about 6 weeks ago. Our relationship started out rocky to begin with but the good times were really good and we've shared a lot of amazing things together. We've had some pretty knock out drag down fights over the past few weeks and have both exchanged and done hurtful things to each other. I find myself being angry with him every day, especially in the mornings and that feeling just won't go away. I do, however, miss him sometimes and worry about him meeting someone new (especially because he told me he wants to sleep with other girls - so hurtful!). I feel like he's abandoned me and like I've lost a family member.

We have spoken and he said he's living his life day by day and has missed me maybe once or twice. He also says he loves me and will say it but "it's not the way I think" and doesn't know why he treated me the way he did (putting me second and putting me down). While having this conversation he was distracted - playing on his keyboard and typing an email- telling me he had thins to do. Like I didn't matter.

He's completely blocked me from any of his personal online accounts for contact (gchat, AIM) but, will sit on our blog e-mail all day and occasionally e-mail me from it and ask me questions. I don't understand why he does this.

I just want to know is he hurting as much as me? How can he claim or act to be over me so quickly?

I have read a myriad of dating books many written from a mans point of view. I have also worked with an organization called PAX (based in LA) that teaches women about men & men about women and how to be in partnership. I am confused about totally opposing advice. EX: being very clear about my dating purpose as being for marriage and children from the very start vs not mentioning marriage and kids at the beginning of dating.
I've asked men about this and gotten different advice based on where they are at in their lives and different dating coaches and books also seem to give conflicting advice on the subject. I have a friend, he's about 28 years old and thinks he is too short. He is about 5-4 and has a smaller, but in shape frame. He is good looking, blonde hair, brown eyes. So I met this guy at school, and we started off studying together and started getting together for lunches/dinner. One of my friends told me that he liked me but I didn't think too much of it. Neither is needed for life itself, and honestly, humans can live with out them. So why do we place such emphasis on the both? We are judged for it, in the form of physical beauty, social status, cultural acceptance, and ability to attain the both. Sex is necessary if you want to reproduce, romantic love isn't needed at all. So why is it so important to the human race, and why do we chase it? We do almost anything for it, often throwing caution to the winds of chance. Our lives have been changed by it, books, songs, etc have been dedicated to love, sex, and fortunes have been made from the both, but why? We suffer the most major pain from the pair, yet we never learn and still try to gain them. the average person won't intentionally hurt themselves, yet we hurt ourselves for the sake of love and sex. My question is why? Is it worth it? Even after rejection, loss,suffering and pain, why do we never learn?

My ex and I broke up about a month ago. We were dating for a year and 1/2. This has happened before and we got back together and fell in love. We broke up because I didn't feel loved and valued like I wanted to be and he, was becoming more selfish than usual and I was pushy about things that took a toll on us and I have since apologized for doing. We've talked pretty much every day since the break up. We work on a music blog together so it's kept the communication waves open although I'm not so sure how I feel about it. We saw each other this past Monday and, after fighting, we said we were sorry and we love each other. We cuddled and he kissed and after a few hours of that in the park, we each went home. It was very sweet and romantic. We e-mailed the next day and he said he wants to take time to himself to determine that this is genune (which he said he thinks it is) and to miss me. We're both confused. I kinda feel like he's dragging me a long yet, feel like we could work things out.

It's Saturday nights like these where you don't have plans, and you miss your time together. I want to call or txt, to be with him right now. to cuddle, get ready to go out and have a nice evening together. A big part of me feels like he is my person. But this has happened before.

So this guy tells me he likes that he can't read me and that intrigues him, that he likes that I don't seem like most of the girls in his "bubble." He's told me he has fun with me and likes talking to me, while we laid in bed he was very affectionate and attentive to detail, looked at me with a smile in his face for a long time, caressed my face, and told me he wanted to date me, I was caugh off guard by that statement and panicked so I replied really? or why? something to that extent. The reason for my reply was because in the past I've been the rebound girl, the one wishing and hoping the guy I liked would like me and take an interest for me off the bat without still not over someone else. This was completely new to me and I feel like I totally screwed up. He doesn't seem interested anymore, Am I too late or can I still get him back?

I am so confused right now. I went on the first date with a man I met on an online dating site after talking with him for over a week online and on the phone. We really hit it off during dinner and ended up going back to his place to watch movies. One thing lead to another...and we ended up making out, but not having sex.

Since then, we've still talked everyday...but not seen each other at all, and it's been two weeks. That really isn't so bad. However, he keeps apologizing for his lack of self-control, and re-iterating that he doesn't bring strange women home to his place normally. No matter how much I try to explain that he has no reason to apologize, he still seems to feel awkward or badly about it.

I really can't tell if he likes me as a friend or possibly more...or if he's just still caught up in feeling badly, considering both of us had agreed that we were looking for something serious. All he seems to talk about is his possible depression and lack of anything keeping him in this state.

I'd like to see where this could go with him as I really feel a connection with him, but I don't want to push myself where I'm not wanted. What should I do?

I have tired many avenues to finding love, from Match to being hooked up by friends, to social gatherings for meeting the one. Yet, I have only had dates here and there and nothing more. No need to re-hash it; we all know about the senator, and his mistress. We know about the senator and his "event" in the Men's room. We all know about the former president, and the intern, cigar anyone? How about a stained dress? Former presidential candidate cheating on his wife with cancer?

Are these things really our business? Okay, I can relate if the sexual conduct is illegal, but most of the time it isn't, so why are we so interested as a population?

If they are doing the job that they are elected to do, why can't they have a personal life? An elected official's sex, romantic life is none of my business, so why is it front page news?

I just think those type of private affairs should be kept between the individuals that it affects the most, not the entire country. With nearly 10% of the population unemployed, 2 wars, millions without health care, etc, can't we concentrate on what really matters? I don't care where they rattle headboards!
