'Ferris Bueller' actor Jeffrey Jones is sentenced for failing to update his sex offender status.
We're guessing it wasn't a very happy birthday for actor Jeffrey Jones, who turned 64 on September 28th and is best known for playing the principal Mr. Rooney in the '80s classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
The character actor, who also appeared in Beetlejuice and other films, was sentenced to 250 hours of community service this week, after he pleaded guilty to failing to update his sex offender registry info, reports CBS.
John Hughes gave so much to so many: He gave Molly Ringwald's knickers to Anthony Michael Hall, he gave Ferris Bueller the day off, and he gave all of us Jake Ryan. He also, for better and for worse, influenced how millions think about romance.
The legendary auteur of teen and romantic films has left an incredible legacy.
Movies from the John Hughes collection didn't just mimic but shaped an entire generation of young people. His archetypal teens (and other scamps) have come to represent how we actually remember the 1980s (a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal). While JH wrote some classic films (including Mr. Mom, Vacation, Home Alone, Pretty In Pink, Some Kind Of Wonderful), his greatest impact was in his in his directorial efforts. Here are John Hughes' most romantic films in order from least to most romantic.
Matthew Broderick married Sarah Jessica Parker. Weird, right?
This is probably old news to most of you but it looks like Matthew Broderick married Sarah Jessica Parker (the leader of the Sex And The City quartet). Yeah, shocking. The 2 have been together since the fall of 1997. They even seem to have a kid. On top of that, Broderick was once engaged to his Ferris Bueller's Day Off co-star Jennifer Grey. She played his sister Jean (Shawna) which invokes our queasiness about post-film, off-screen incest. Next we're going to learn that he and Ed Rooney are old golfing buddies.
