Love your body?
... featuring advice from five YourTango Experts!

6. Remember you are perfect, just the way you are. Our culture has a way of convincing us we aren't valuable, but we are! You don't need to change a thing to be loved. Confidence and compassion will light up your body as you believe in your own, intrinsic value. —Dr. Tina Schermer-Sellers

7. Rock your inner-diva. Your body is a work of beauty created intentionally by the same God that created the Earth. It is a sensual body filled with many wonderful ways to experience joy and pleasure. Find a way to enjoy sensual pleasure each week, whether it's food, aromas, sensations, music or beauty. —Dr. Tina Schermer-Sellers

8. Believe in your inner-performer. When was the last time you got lost in music? As a woman, you are sensual, physical, generous and playful. If it has been a long time since you have lived fully into your erotic rhythms, find an Ecstatic or African dance class and let yourself go. It will feel great and remind you of your erotic, playful power. —Dr. Tina Schermer-Sellers

9. Know your inner-goddess. As a woman, you hold sacred power in your passion, heart and desires. Many have tried to diminish this power, but the power in feminine passion and love unites and heals. Manifest this sacred power by living and loving out loud. Let your heart and voice be heard. —Dr. Tina Schermer-Sellers

10. Focus on the new you. Want to change your body? Ask yourself: If your body was more like you want it to be, what would happen then? Maybe you could garden more, play sports with your child, dance the night away or feel more confident. Focusing on what you have to give up (like dessert) can make you feel deprived and depressed. Focus instead on what you'll gain. Let that inspire and motivate you. —Gina Campbell

11. Visualize what it would feel like if your body was exactly the way you want it to be. We're not talking about visualizing an ideal body; this is about how it would feel. For example, you might feel like a soaring bird, easily and naturally flying. Don't worry about if it seems logical or makes sense to anyone but you. Draw a sketch of the image that comes to you, adding as many details aspossible. Post it where you'll see it often. Recall it when you're with that romantic someone and see how your radiance shines through! —Gina Campbell

12. Listen carefully and respond accordingly. Listening is one of the most important skills in any relationship, including the one with your body. We need to pay attention to what our bodies tell us and respond with positive support. Symptoms such as headaches, digestive challenges, insomnia, joint and body aches, depression, tiredness and high blood pressure are all just the body communicating with us, letting us knows there are imbalances. Making positive lifestyle changes and/or providing natural support communicates back to the body "message received" and the body can begin to balance itself again. When we listen and communicate with our bodies, we build a relationship that will improve our mental, physical, emotional and financial health! —Pam Heyen
