Breakfast in bed with a healthier choice, makes it even sexier!

I attended Food Fete featuring healthy food in New York City. It was a night jam packed with some great healthy eats. While I loved sampling all the good nosh, the table that stood out for me was the Applegate crew.

Applegate makes delicious antibiotic free, natural, and organic meats that include: turkey, chicken, beef, pork and last but not least cheese. They believe in three principles taste, truth and trust.

 

A cooking courtesan knows that breakfast in bed is a very sexy thing. Next time you surprise your lover with breakfast in the boudoir, fry up some of Applegate’s Sunday Bacon with a stack of buckwheat pancakes. If you or your boo does not eat pork, use Applegate’s turkey bacon which is delicious.

I sampled their turkey bacon and was blown away. I normally do not eat turkey bacon, because I’m not much of a turkey eater.

I got a yummy recipe for buckwheat pancakes off of Applegate’s website. It says to use their Sunday Bacon, but switch it out for any of their breakfast meat that gets your palate going. Also add some pecans or strawberries to the pancakes if you like for an extra aphrodisiac kick.

I highly recommend you make this breakfast on Sensual Saturday or Sexy Sunday. Once you have finished eating there is sure to a nice round or two of good lovin’!

Buckwheat Pancakes

Ingredients:

¾ cup unbleached all-purpose flour
½ cup buckwheat flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoons sugar
1½ cups buttermilk (or 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup of milk) *
1 egg
2 tablespoons melted butter
6 slices Applegate Sunday Bacon

Directions:

Heat a heavy non-stick griddle or well seasoned cast iron skillet over medium heat. Sift or whisk all the dry ingredients together in a medium bowl. Beat the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter together in another medium bowl, and then pour into the flour. Beat until mixed into a thin smooth batter. Pour about ¼ cup of batter, for each pancake, onto the hot griddle and cook until bubbles appear on the top. Flip and cook until golden brown on the bottom. Serve with Applegate Farms Sunday Bacon.

Modern Courtesan Tip: Don’t forget the champagne to kick up the aphrodisiac factor a notch.
