Don't Get Stuck In The Comfort Zone! Seek For Better.
If you want a great relationship you have to be bold. True love isn't timid, it's wonderfully challenging. To be ready for love you can't be too comfortable and set in your ways.
Here's an analogy to help explain. Do you know which came first, the chicken or the egg? Does it matter? Not really, but you can learn something from this age-old question.
Imagine you're the chick. You're developing and growing larger inside the confines of your small egg. It's getting more confining and crowded in there. It's tight and polluted and you want OUT.
What do you do? There are two choices you can make. First, you hope and pray for a larger egg and wait to see what happens. Secondly, you decide to do something, to break out of the shell and face whatever awaits you on the other side.
Ponder a moment the difference between these two choices. Can you identify with the first choice of wishing for a larger egg? Can you see where you might limit yourself by only hoping things will change?
Barring one of these, it's a fact that most of us stay with what's comfortable long past comfort's expiration date. How much better is it to be like the chicken breaking free, to shift your thinking without depending on outside events to push you there.
You can actually use what's around you to help shift out of your comfortable ways. Here are some suggestions to help break through your shell:
- Attend a class and expose yourself to new people and ideas.
- Pursue a deeper spiritual practice; whatever you feel that to be.
- Use self-hypnosis or meditation to access your deeper mind.
- Take yourself out of your home environment and spend time in a new location.
- Challenge yourself to do something you've avoided because you're afraid.
The chick doesn't stop in fear because it finds air on the other side of the shell. It continues to push against the boundaries of the only home it's ever known into the mystery of its new experience.
Where in your love life are you asking only for a bigger shell? Perhaps it is time to go for a lot more.
