THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN MALE EJACULATION AND ORGASM
THE ANCIENT SAGES KNEW EJACULATION TO BE TRIVIAL WHEN COMPARED TO ORGASM

When I first heard that it was possible to achieve orgasm without ejaculating, I was extremely skeptical. The idea was so completely foreign that I couldn’t even imagine how it could take place. Weren’t they the same thing? I had never before considered the possibility of separating my ecstatic feelings of orgasm from my seminal discharge. Until then, for me, without exception, ejaculation and orgasm had always occurred simultaneously. Hearing that they could be experienced separately was nothing less than a mind-blowing and belief shattering concept.

In traditional sexology the words “climax” and “orgasm” are usually interchangeable with no distinction drawn between them. However, Wilhelm Reich, the noted German psychologist, was on the right track when he drew a sharp distinction between them. He referred to climax as a localized genital experience. On the other hand, he viewed orgasm as an experience in which the muscles of the entire body participate, not just the muscles of the pelvis. Reich knew that only through orgasm could we achieve a “complete circuit of bioelectric flow” through the body that is essential to mental and physical health. “If you don’t involve the whole body, said Reich, then you don’t have a complete release, and that dammed-up energy seeks outlets in other, often destructive ways.”

Equating orgasm and ejaculation is a mistake that the ancient teachers of tantra wisely averted. They considered ejaculation to be trivial ---- little more than a localized muscle spasm accompanied by a brief rush of pleasure with devastating aftereffects. In contrast, they knew orgasm to be a peak, full-body, physical, emotional and energetic experience that could even have mystical overtones. These ancient sages hungered for the crescendo of orgasm rather than the inevitable crash of ejaculation. They recognized long ago that a man’s orgasmic pleasures would only increase if he withheld his ejaculation.

Men need to know that with a regular training program to develop the internal muscles used in sex ---- the same muscles that we already employ when squeezing out the last drop after urinating, we can expand our orgasmic capacity without the loss of vital energy that accompanies every male ejaculation and without short-circuiting our sexual fun.
