Are you single and ready to mingle? If so, make yourself some dating resolutions!
Every year, millions of people around the world make new years resolutions. The most common resolutions in western countries tend to focus on weight loss, fitness, smoking and finances. This year, I want to encourage you to include a "dating resolution." I am going to outline three simple resolutions that anyone can make.
If I had to recommend the best resolution for a single person looking for love, it would be simple: "keep your attitude positive." I always tell my clients, if you maintain a positive mindset, you will attract the right person into your life. If you choose to proactively keep an open mind, you will meet the person you want. Don't complain about being single and don't adopt a cynical attitude — what's the point of ranting about how there is "nobody out there for you"!?
The second resolution that works wonders is: "never turn down an invitation". The best way to meet someone is in person. That way you can sense if there is chemistry instantaneously, rather than sifting through online profiles. The best way to continue receiving invitations is to RSVP "yes". You don't want to be one of those people who always turns down invitations because eventually, the host will stop inviting you. Try your best to always attend social events that you are invited to.
My third favorite dating resolution is to "love yourself". That might sound silly but the best way to find love is to love yourself first. Confidence and happiness will attract a significant other. That means all you need to do is hit the gym, break a sweat, eat healthy and practice meditation. My favorite meditation website is headspace.com. Taking ten minutes out of your day to clear your head is a foolproof way to center yourself.
This winter, I encourage everyone to enjoy their family, friends and loved ones. As the 1963 holiday song goes, "This is the most wonderful time of the year". Make sure you start 2014 off on the right foot with a dating resolution!
