I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and licensed clinical social worker.

I've spent the last decade of my life committed to helping parents find parenting solutions to their children's distress.

My husband, Scott, and I founded Head Quarters for Heart Change, a group mental health therapy practice where clinicians work with hundreds of children and families every week to help them with whatever struggles are occurring in their life. No matter what issue brings the parent through our door, I notice that ALL parents want the same thing:

Healthy, Happy Functional Children

who can tolerate the world today and grow up to be a contributing member to society! Scott and I decided to start a campaign called "Be What's Right" to help educate, support, and encourage parents across the world.

We want to:

  • prevent child abuse,
  • inform parents about normal, healthy child development, and
  • help parents and children have life-long, lasting relationships.

As a mother of two fabulous children, I have real life experience at how difficult this parenting journey can be. With the experience and training as a mental health therapist, I am able to tackle my real life parenting challenges with a bit more skill. I often think to myself, how come more parents don't have more of this mental health information? There are some important skills that ALL parents need!

I AM COMMITTED TO BRINGING THIS INFORMATION TO YOU! I have spent years of my life, thousands of dollars, many years in school, and worked with hundreds of families to learn these tools.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey.

Yes, I'm one of those touchy-feely people who believe that all people come into our life for a reason. Finding this website and reading this far, means you, like me, are committed to making this world a better place for our children and changing your child's life!

The Reason I Became A Helping Professional

My journey as a helping professional started in the 7th grade.  One of my dearest friends was molested by someone close to her and she disclosed this information to me.  This was just the beginning of my helping profession!

Throughout middle school and high school, I became the friend people turned to when they were suicidal, thought they were pregnant, or just needed a good shoulder to cry on.  For whatever reason, I was blessed with the skill to help others.

When I reached college, I discovered Psychology my freshman year and found out that there was a name to go with all the skills I had naturally come to gain.  Actually, there were entire fields of study!  Bonus!  I was excited to know I could make a living using my strengths and gifts!

I knew early on that I wanted to work with children so I pursued the education part of my degree and became very familiar with school settings.  However, I didn't want to teach.  As a child, I grew up in an alcoholic home.  There were good parts and bad parts.  In my soul and my mission in life is to prevent children from having to experience the bad parts.   This drive, passion, mission landed me in Social Work where I took the course work, completed the internships, and finally became a Licensed Clinical Social Work.

I am a student first...of life, of people, and of solutions.  I will never take a client where I am not willing to go myself.  I have sat on the other side of the couch, working through my stuff, navigating those troubled waters.  I've learned a few things that I am happy to share and teach to others to help their journey be a bit smoother.
