About Nasrin Barkhordari

Nasrin has thirty-five years of education and rich experience working with families and children, from her initial employment as a pre-school teacher and pre-school director, to the culmination of her mastery as a child development specialist and marriage and family therapist. She has been an individual, family, and child psychotherapist as well as consultant for ten of those years. Her continued zeal for the academic study and empirically derived education on the dynamics of couples and family relationships led to her professional career in marriage and family psychotherapy. Throughout her enrichment, Nasrin has developed an understanding of the four basic, ingrained needs of all humanity: a sense of belonging, love, freedom, and power, and that the relationship of child to caretaker is the single-most significant one in his or her development. Pursuant to this, Nasrin has devoted her life to her work as a child developmental specialist, engaging parents, children, adolescents, and young adults and assisting them in creating and/or reformulating strong, unwavering connections. In her role as a bilingual (English and Farsi speaking) marriage family therapist, Nasrin fosters and develops interpersonal relationships, both for individuals with personal needs and couples with marital needs. Nasrin continues to expand her education in psychotherapy by constantly attending classes, conferences, and seminars and is currently pursuing her doctorate degree from Ryokan College. She is a member of The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT), The Association of Play Therapy (APT), and a comprehensive life member of The National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC). Nasrin has been associated with Personal Growth Institute since 2003. She meets with clients at her offices in Tarzana and in Brentwood, California.
