Who knew that being a Solely, Liberated, Unbiased Truth-teller meant you were a "slut?"

S.L.U.T: A solely, liberated, unbiased truth-teller. If this is true, then I'm game! As a matter of fact, I am a s.l.u.t and I know quite a few who men who share this distinguished title.

Recently, Rush Limbaugh slammed Sandra Fluke, a law student at Georgetown, when she spoke in front of the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee about increasing help from insurance companies for women receiving contraception. Afterward, Limbaugh called her a variety of derogatory names, including "slut" and "prostitute." Now, he has been slammed where it hurts the most, his wallet. Sandra Fluke Rejects Rush Limbaugh's Apology: What Do You Think?

Not only has he been defamed for losing his collective cool and showing a law student, who will probably someday be a future attorney or policy maker, the wrong way to handle opposition...but also, his snide remarks have him under fire from other GOP hopefuls and activists to President Obama who now seems to be targeting more women in his campaign.

According to USA Today, the president seems to be changing tactics in the upcoming presidential race, focusing on the, eh hem, S.L.U.Ts and other women, more so than the men. Fortunately, many of those who endorsed Limbaugh's supposedly conservative radio program are now backing out. Thankfully, even men who are usually in the majority when referring to women in such a derogatory manner are afraid to be tied to the word. So, are the guys who think Limbaugh was out of line now considered sluts too?

Where some men have historically wielded this word as their shield, others are stepping back and recognizing that fighting dirty, unless in a rink or behind closed doors, is truly offensive and uncalled for. Sandra Fluke & The Power Of Shame

Yet Limbaugh wasn't the only one doing the name calling of sorts. In his article, "A 'Fluke' in this situation," Keith Fierro seemed to attack the law school student even further when he not only demeaned her "feminist" viewpoints, but also, implied certain double standards in her ideology when he called her "a caricature of the modern liberal feminist."

Obviously, this is another chauvinistic viewpoint, considering that Fluke was simply asking for more contraceptive coverage to help prevent more unplanned pregnancies in the first place; especially because some health insurance plans won't even cover pregnancy, unless you add it for a whopping extra $150 bucks or more a month to your regular health insurance bill. This is happening even though pregnancy is an obvious medical condition where medical care will be needed. How To Get Him To Use Protection

But that's not a man's problem, right? It is the woman's role to keep her legs closed. Since biblical times, feminists and "S.L.U.T.s" have been viewed as nothing more than the legs they stand on and all too frequently open. Tamar was the first recorded female to play the "whore" when she tricked Judah, the fourth son of Israel, into having sex with her. The twins he fathered grew and later became powerful people as promised. Thus, from a "prostitute" or a "slut" came the promised seed of Judah, the descendants of Israel.

Rahab "the harlot," (biblical terminology here, not mine), helped Joshua and his men, allowing them the opportunity to victoriously seize Jericho, sparing her and her family from the city's downfall and earned the Israelite's untold victory.

Believe me, I know the Bible. In fact, I use it to defend my sexual exploits with my man, something men don't have to do. Somehow, because of the extra equipment in their pants, they are unequivocally rendered blameless in their sexual exploits.

Unfortunately, because women today are more vicarious in their lifestyle, are not settling for Mr. Good-Enough-Bank-Account or Mr. Sex isn't great and are earning their own way while finding their own fulfillment in every way, many are viewed as a slut. It is the Sandra Flukes of the world, who come out and remind others of their sexual liberation who suffer at the hands of men, being publicly humiliated by being called a "slut" and a "prostitute," as Limbaugh adamantly put it. How Are Women Faring In 2012? A Women's Rights Report Card

Why is our society such hypocrites when it comes to sex? Tamar was labeled the "whore" even though Judah was the one seeking her services. Fluke's pleas of contraception are publicly denounced. She is belittled by the same type of men in power who are usually plastered on the news for cheating on their women by using services from call girls.

The hypocrisy of the word slut boggles the mind. People go out and search for sex. Hell, they pay such ridiculous high prices to have sex. Still, the woman providing the service is, in fact, deemed a slut. But our society proves what is done in darkness shall ultimately stay in darkness. Why? Once it enters the light, it is too horrific to recognize and contain.

Sandra Fluke, a law student who will someday undoubtedly continue to make a name for herself, who in no way should be viewed as a slut, suffered publicly by the voices we look to for help with making our society better. Humiliated for voicing her opinions to help other women who may or may not partake in various sexual activities, she suffered the stigma of a S.L.U.T. Rush Limbaugh's Bold Remarks On Relationships & Marriage

Isn't it time we moved past the name calling and move towards real actions that will actually solve the problem? To do so, with the help of a s.l.u.t, or with them in mind, would truly be innovative.
