Don't let a crisis ruin your relationship.
5. Human beings are not meant to be isolated. Connect with your community. Talk with neighbors, volunteer at a shelter, go to church, temple or mosque. Reach out.
6. Listen to music if you can. Music can lift your spirits. Choose upbeat sounds like gospel, show tunes, marches or whatever makes you feel good. Sing along. I know it sounds silly but singing helps you feel better.
If you have survived and can read this, you can be grateful. If your family is safe, this is the most important blessing. If your home made it through the storm in one piece, that is huge. If you are receiving help from anyone, if you have a generator or your power held or came back on, this is all good. There are many other things to be grateful for. The more you focus on good, the more good will come. The opposite is also true. You have a choice: be a fountain or a drain.
