About Michael Blumenfield
Michael Blumenfield, M.D. is an experienced psychiatrist who does clinical consultations, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology with adults. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry and was certified in Psychosomatic Medicine in 2005 by the same board. He is Past President of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry (2012-2014). Dr. Blumenfield has written numerous professional publications including authoring and/or editing 5 five books. He has been Speaker of the Assembly of the American Psychiatric Association. In addition he has written a syndicated newspaper column for Gannett Newspapers, had a local radio program and an Internet Podcast and currently writes a blog on psychiatry (PsychiatryTalk.com), all have been dedicated to educating the public about mental illness and psychiatry. He specializes in psychotherapy but also prescribes medication when indicated.
