The days of women over 50 fading into the furnishings are over! No longer the dowdy older depressed empty nester, we are discovering a full and fabulous life after children leave home. If you woke up on January 1st and said “This is it. This is the year I find my partner!” you are not alone. Falling in love is easy; staying in love takes work, hard work. You know this is true, because if you have ever been in love and lost that love, there is a little remembrance of that ...What Kind Of Marriage Do You Want?
There is a question I used to dread. As a relationship coach, I often hear clients (especially after a divorce) asking why bother with marriage? The first thing I did when I read this was to go into instant denial and say no way, no way 16% of American's would admit to such a thing, but I do trust the UN Women's findings, because the reality of the situation is that 50% of all women killed in the US are killed by someone they know and our shelters are full all over the country. So yes, it is happening and it is happening more than we thing, so obviously, as a nation, we are not taking as strong a stand against violence against women as maybe we'd like to think. The US is interestingly behind other countries in many areas, that promote women's equality, such as not having an equal rights amendment, not having paid maternity leave, not having equality in pay (even though there has been a federal law about this for 30 or so years!) We certainly do have a long way to go. Thank you Jenna Birch for letting us all know about this important report! Would love to have you join the freedom from abuse facebook page.
