About Jan Winhall

I am a Focusing-Oriented Trauma Therapist (FOTT) and Director of 'Focusing On Borden' in Toronto, Canada. The centre offers group classes for training as a Focusing Professional and Focusing-Oriented Therapist. We are creating a community of like-minded and embodied people who share a passion for bringing Focusing into the world. I am an adjunct Lecturer in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto and I supervise students from this program.

I first encountered Focusing twenty five years ago when I was searching for a gentle and embodied way of working with my traumatized clients.  I now enjoy the process of reflecting back on thirty- five years of experience, engaging in conceptual thinking and developing models that articulate this mysterious thing that we do. I look forward to more time for writing and living the Focusing Way. Focusing touches into the heart of healing and has provided me with a daily practice of my own as well as a profound relational context in which to offer healing experiences for my clients.

I created the Felt Sense Experience Model for working with issues of Emotional Regulation. I have written about the model in the recent book “Emerging Practice in Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy”. I am currently in the planning stages for a new book that further develops the Felt Sense Experience Model and its applications.
