With the sad passing of an icon, Prince is being honored. Prince was one of the world changers, a genius in his own right.
According to a Huffington Post article, one of his greatest feats was getting artistic control. Check out the article here, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/the-conversation-us/how-princes-quest-for-com_b_9765552.html A quote from that article states, “But it was his pursuit of complete artistic freedom – and legal protection for that freedom – that will make up a significant portion of his legacy.”
So many of us are living under the guise of "I must do things the way someone else says." This stifles our creativity and leaves us in a mediocre position. Having someone else dictate what we can and can’t do creates frustration and limits our creativity. As Prince demonstrated, true freedom comes from activating our own genius.
At one point in his career he even put the world “SLAVE” on his face for everyone to see. “People think I’m crazy for writing ‘slave’ on my face," he told Rolling Stones in 1996. “But if I can’t do what I want to do, what am I? When you stop a man from dreaming he becomes a slave. That’s where I was. I don’t own Prince’s music. If you don’t own your masters, your masters own you.”
Prince knew his mastery came from him, not what someone else told him to do. Everyone has mastery and genius within. How many of us have actually dumbed down our genius to be able to fit in or be accepted? How many of us are not tapping into our genius because someone else tells us how things MUST BE done?
The biggest contribution we can make to ourselves and for the world at large is to start coming from our own creativity. Start to dream again! Start to activate our own creative desires. We must stop listening to the people that say “You can’t,” or “It must be done this way."
Free yourself from the chains that bind you. The chains that bind you are programs, beliefs and perceptions that keep limiting you. Dare to be all you can be. Dare to be the master of your own birthright. Dare to go against the grain.
Harriet Tubman said, “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember you have within the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
Only you and your genius know what you can accomplish. Your journey is to become that creative genius. We all carry it. We all can live from it.
Those who are honoring Prince can do so the best by following in his footsteps. Own your own genius as Prince has done. Your genius is within and the world is waiting for you!
