Start with the simple acknowledgement that you have a roof over your head, food in the pantry, money in your pocket, a bed to sleep in, and go on to add as many items as you can. You might include having a friend, a good memory, a park to sit in, and you can carry a tune. Weigh the positive against the negative you were just thinking and notice the difference.
4. Take an "Oy Vey" moment

Have you ever noticed that when some people are upset they often put their hand over their forehead in anguish or shock? Oy vey is a Yiddish expression for "Woe is me." When everything seems to be going wrong in your life and you feel as if you want to run away to a desert island and leave it all behind, stop for 5 minutes and try this easy stress reduction activity.
Sit in a comfortable chair. Place one hand gently over your forehead. Cup the back of your scalp just above your neck with your other hand. Take a deep breath and let go. Just sit there and be still. Don't try to solve your problems. Allow your anger, fear, anxiety or any other negative emotion to disappear as you keep breathing in a natural way.
You will find that this brief time out works wonders. The reason is that your hands are gently pressing on acupressure points that relax the body by raising the serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is the soothing brain chemical that makes your feel good. You can perform this brief time-out activity any time you have "had it up to here."
Use these four useful activities to release stress by changing your perspective. Then you can choose to have a good day every day.
