4. Determine what small step you can take first. Instead of getting overwhelmed, ask yourself, What is one thing I can do to move me closer to where I want to be in the relationship? You just have to focus on the first thing—nothing else. Once you’ve taken that step, then move on to the next thing, and so on until you are where you want to be.
