Celebrate "Just Because" Day!
Dr. Adam Sheck recommends an alternative to the commercialism of Valentine's Day

Do You Celebrate “Just Because” Day?

I’m writing this as a backlash to the commercialism of Valentine’s Day. It’s not that I have anything against expressing your love and sharing a romantic day (or night) with your beloved. It’s more about needing someone to tell you WHEN to do it and HOW to do it and about them making exorbitant profits in doing it.

According to the National Retail Federation’s 2007 Valentine’s Day Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, Americans were predicted to spend about $16.9 billion on their sweethearts! Men generally spend twice as much as women and the most popular gifts are flowers, candy and jewelry (big surprise!). I wonder what we’ll spend in 2011?

So I thought, “Wouldn’t it be nice to just do something loving and kind and romantic ‘Just Because’ instead of when we’re ‘supposed’ to do it?”

And then I thought that perhaps we could take that “Just Because” and celebrate it. And I Googled “Just Because Day” to see if someone else had thought of it before I did. And I can’t really tell, although there seems to be some record of some bloggers considering August 27 as “Just Because Day” though there isn’t a lot of agreement about it.

And then it occurred to me that by making “Just Because Day” a specific day, we would be just doing the “same thing, different day” and what would the point of that be? So my conclusion is this:

Celebrate “Just Because Day” on any day you’d like!!!

In fact, celebrate it on EVERY day you’d like!!!

To help build some momentum and some traction, I created a website for you to share your ideas about celebrating love, romance, passion and intimacy and I invite you to visit there and leave a comment! There’s nothing to buy there, it’s not commercial at all. Please comment about your favorite ways of sharing your love with your partner! Let’s inspire one another there.

Disclosure: I did put an optin box there if you’d like to subscribe to my FREE Passion 101 Newsletter and receive my FREE Special Report, “101 Ways To Bring Back The Passion!” You don’t need to or feel obliged, it’s my gift to you “just because”.

And believe it or not, the URL for “Just Because Day” was available, so please go there and share your most fun, loving and romantic ideas. AND, go pick a random day and show your partner, your beloved, your friends, your family how you feel about them “Just Because” !
