What works at the office doesn't work heart to heart.
Are you an overachiever but struggle when it comes to love? Boy, do I get that! I bet you could be the poster child for Nike’s Just Do It campaign, right? You're a winner, an achiever, pushing for results, getting sh*t done and through it all, you're in complete and total control.
Why? Because success does not just happen. You must show up and make it happen.
But, if creating success in your career is so simple, why aren’t you winning at love, too?
That's because success in love requires a completely different approach. Love is a unique and beautiful experience designed to help us grow and evolve as more conscious beings. It extends beyond our bodies and minds to include our hearts and souls.
The very first religious writings, the Vedic religion, tells us that human beings have seven energy centers, the chakras, that are vertically aligned starting at the base of the spine and extending to the top of the head.
Since then, many other religious texts, including the Bible, reference humans as energetic beings. Or, if you prefer a scientific perspective, quantum physics teaches us that we're all made up of energy, and we are all connected through this energy.
What does this have to do with you finding true love?
Often, experiences in life cause us to shut down and protect ourselves. When we do this, locks are created in our energy centers or chakras. These locks prevent us from attracting and keeping the love we desire.
It turns out, the control and drive that ultimately make you a superstar in the workplace is usually an indicator of an emotional need for control. This need to create strong foundations and keep yourself safe is typically rooted in fear. Fear is the primary lock of the root, or first chakra.
Have you ever been called a ‘control-freak?’
Can you think about a time in your life, likely when you were a child, where you did not feel fully supported? Have you ever suffered with anxiety, depression or financial issues? Do you often feel alone? Are you afraid to do what you really want to do?
If any of these resonate with you, then it's likely that you have a lock in your root chakra and this is hindering you from finding lasting love. You can begin to create strong foundations in your root chakra by doing these four things:
1. Connect with nature: Go outside for a walk and be aware of nature around you. Sit on the ground; walk barefooted on the grass or in the sand. Allow yourself to connect with the earth.
2. Wear red: Red is the color of the root chakra and by wearing it you will feel more connected and grounded.
3. Eat root vegetables: Eat beets, turnips or carrots more often. Also eat more red foods like red meat or kidney beans.
4. Meditate: Search YouTube for free root chakra meditations or music that will bring you into the correct healing vibration to ground yourself. Or you can simply chant ‘LAM’ the root chakra seed sound while you meditate on your own.
When your root chakra is in balance, you'll feel like you belong and are a supported in every way. Your family and friends will always be there for you, and you will become financially secure. You will feel grounded, safe, and secure. The inner sense of ease created by this will allow you to attract and keep the love that you desire.
So yeah, your winning approach works for success in the workplace, but to become successful in love you need to step back — stop pushing, controlling and trying to lock down love so you can feel safe. Instead, create a sense of security within you by balancing your root chakra and watch love flow to you.
