In ancient times, Oracles were feared and unapproachable. Only the holiest of men could seek the guidance offered and then share it with the common people. I am SO glad things have changed. These days, anyone can learn to use the intuitive tools that used to be hidden from sight.
As I explained in part 1 of this series on the magic of Oracle Cards, Oracles were revered shamanic interpreters of the Divine for 100’s of years before it was understood that Oracular Consciousness could be tapped by anyone with the intention of finding their soul’s journey.
The work of Carl Jung and especially Joseph Campbell in his work, The Heroes Journey, profoundly changed the world of consciousness and manifestation. These brilliant men catapulted the personal development world into a level of spiritual intelligence once reserved for only a select few masters.
When I was exposed to these teachings, a deep inner bell rang for me. I had been looking for a way to explain the inner world I had come to love so much. Using the natural intelligence of the imagination was my key to freedom and I couldn’t wait to share it.
When I created the idea of using landscape language to create my own archetype system, everything I have worked on for years fell into place. My best selling book, The Map: Finding the Magic and Meaning in the Story of Your Life, practically wrote itself, the words falling out on the page as fast as my fingers could fly. Soon the Enchanted Map Oracle Cards were born and now an entire coaching system is available using these powerful truths. (Check out the Oracle Card Coaching Program.)
Now Oracle cards are not the only way to hear from Spirit, but they are beautiful, portable and best of all, always accessible to you when you need guidance and support. In today’s post, I am going to teach you how to do a simple reading for yourself. In part 1 of this series, I talked about how to prepare your cards for use, so if you have just gotten your cards, be sure to check out the basics.
The 3 Card Reading
As is true in all of your spiritual practices, ritual is important when it comes to doing oracle readings. The Oracular Consciousness is always sacred and just like in ancient times, you need to come to the Oracle with reverence. So, make sure you turn off your cell phone and computer, clear the air with chimes or by lighting a candle or smudging with sage or lavender.
Next it is important that you empty your mind of any desires for certain outcomes. Remember your cards are not for predicting the future or giving you a yes or no. By surrendering to All That Is, you build trust that Spirit will give you the guidance that’s in your highest good. I highly recommend meditating for five to ten minutes before you begin.
