That's been the most rewarding part of this experience. My investigation—whether you agree with it or not—is only a piece. The really interesting thing has been monitoring this discussion. Fascinating thoughts (with some jumping to wild conclusions, to be sure.. but fascinating, nonetheless). :) And thank you for your thoughts and involvement!
"Patience and Restraint" — Sage advice. :) Very glad you and your wife were able to work through things. A rough road; I don't not envy the personal work you did, nor the joint work you both put in. Kudos to you both. :) Best to you... and thank you!
Hi Dew. I can appreciate your comments and personal story. My "overconfidence" notwithstanding, I would humbly suggest that perhaps your personal experience has jaded your view... slightly? Is what you are describing possible? Sure... this wasn't a scientific study by any stretch of the imagination. I was looking for raw, real-world experiences and "data" (as close to data as possible). Could they have been playing me and lying to me? That is a possibility... I was lying to them, as well. Could these women have the same addictive behavior as your wife? I suppose that's possible, but no one would have any way of knowing that without some serious time spent IN the relationship (as you called out, it was a year of therapy for her to come to grips with her involvement and accountability — and for your experiences, my heart goes out to you both). My suggestion is to take my findings for what they are worth... and not see this article as a be all, end all of ALL the why's ALL women cheat. This was my experience with 30+ chat sessions and three in-person dates, coupled with my experiences with my wife and a formal poll of 250 women after the fact. And while it isn't conclusive for ALL women, ALL marriages, ALL situations, ALL cheaters... it does provide some keen insights into the why's for many (at least, that's been the feedback from hundreds of people). :) Also, it wasn't my intention to come across as arrogant or overconfident... not at all... and if that how you (or others) took my writing, I would ask you for a leap of faith on that. :) Writing is subjective, and open to the interpretation of the reader... but it wasn't intentional.
