Barry Ginsberg, PhD, ABPP, CFLE, who founded CORE in 1981, is the Director of the Center of Relationship Enhancement and of Ginsberg Associates (a child and family clinical practice). As a child and family psychologist, he has provided relationship enhancement therapy and enrichment programs to families and trained professionals throughout the USA and Canada since 1969. He is the originator of the parent-adolescent relationship development (PARD) program.
I believe that the quality of our lives is dependent on the closeness and security of our important relationships. The problems we encounter arise in the context of our relationships with others. The best way to help is in context with people who are important to us. I have worked with children, adolescents, couples, families, relationships and organizations for more than 35 years. I am the author of 50 Wonderful Ways to be a Single-Parent (New Harbinger, 2003) & Relationship Enhancement Family Therapy (Wiley, 1997). I am certified in marriage & family & play therapy. Please see my website for more information.
I am an applied developmental psychologist which means that rather than being diagnostic, I understand problems in light of an individual & family's development; the stage of life individuals/families are in; and how to address these problems in their present context. Improving emotional openness and flexibility leads to change.
I emphasize working with children and adolescents in their family contexts. I provide couples therapy & education, parent therapy and family therapy including family of-origin consultation. I offer programs in couple & family education from birth to death. My work is based on the principles & methods of Relationship Enhancement and Filial Therapy.
Professional Training
The Center of Relationship Enhancement (CORE) offers professional training in Child/Play/Filial Therapy/Enrichment, Family Therapy, Parent-Adolescent Therapy and therapy for individuals, couples and groups.
These programs can be used for prevention and intervention, and to foster constructive change. RE programs and methods can also be adapted for use in organizational and work environments.
Participants in the training programs at CORE learn to integrate the principles, skills and methods of RE in their work and personal lives, and to become skilled in providing structured RE programs. All programs can be tailored to the needs of the organization or individual.
If you are interested in receiving certification in any of the RE programs described below, contact Dr. Ginsberg for requirements and an application form. Training sessions are conducted as:
- single-day intensive training workshops
- a series of day-long training workshops
- weekly, in two-hour training segments (in Doylestown, Pa)
- on-site training
All training sessions are didactic, and use videotaped demonstrations, role-play practice and modeling.
