About Andrew Susskind

After completing his graduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1991 with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, he launched his career in private practice as an associate with West Coast Counseling Center in Los Angeles and Encino, California. After becoming a licensed psychotherapist in 1995, he went on to build a thriving private practice with a specialty in addictions, trauma and codependency. Andrew’s original training at UCLA focused on psychodynamic and family systems theories, and through the years his clinical interests have evolved to include Self Psychology, Attachment Theory, Positive Psychology and the cutting edge brain-body approaches of Somatic Experiencing and Brainspotting.

In 2001, Andrew earned his coach certification from the College of Executive Coaching, specializing in coaching individuals who are clean and sober and looking to establish traction and greater satisfaction in their lives. As part of his passion, he co-founded Recovery Coaches International in 2005. Andrew has facilitated workshops in private practice and twelve-step retreats as well as addiction treatment centers such as Promises, Clearview and the Bridge to Recovery. In 2014, he released a user-friendly, strategy-based coaching workbook entitled From Now On: Seven Keys to Purposeful Recovery.

In addition to providing individual and couples therapy in his practice, Andrew has been passionate about group therapy and workshops since 1992, and he is an enthusiastic member of the Group Psychotherapy Association of Los Angeles and the American Group Psychotherapy Association.  In 2013, Andrew became a Certified Group Psychotherapist. Speaking, writing and training are key dimensions of Andrew’s ongoing desire to educate others and to challenge his growing edge. He mentors associates in his practice and frequently gives presentations and workshops at numerous conferences, post-graduate training programs and professional organizations, both locally and nationally.
