I Believe

Life can be complicated and painful. We were not born with instruction manuals or directions. Don't let that deter you from being who you were always meant to be, fully having the relationship of your dreams and living life to the fullest. When you take the time for yourself and your relationship with the intention of healing and growth, in an environment that fosters understanding, compassion, non-judgment, love and joy, you will amaze yourself. Let yourself receive the help that is available. Remember, if it were easy and you really could do it all by yourself, you already would have.

About Amy Blake

My joy and passion is helping people make transformational changes in their lives. I have had the good fortune of having a variety of life experiences which make it challenging to categorize myself and the therapeutic work I do. At the same time, those experiences allow me to understand and help the people I work with in a much more holistic way.

I received my BA in Psychology and my Master's Degree in Social Work from the Universisty of Michigan.  The advanced clinical training that I find most helpful in addressing the needs of the people who come to me for help includes Imago Relationship Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and EMDR.

I hold workshops for all couples as well as workshops specifically for gay and lesbian couples. Imago is an amazing approach for facilitating connection, healing and growth in relationships, even in relationships that feel hopeless.  My offices are in Yarmouth and Augusta, Maine. I provide Getting the Love You Want Couples Weekends in Portland, Maine. I am available to bring Imago programs to your town or group and provide private couples intensives based on Imago Relationship Therapy.

It was early in my career when I learned the value of the phrase “The slower you go, the faster you get there.” Slowing down, accepting and honoring what is and creating safety are the keys, in my opinion and experience, for facilitating growth and lasting change.
