Dieting to lose weight for a special occasion? What you should know before starting any extreme diet

You can feel beautiful by focusing your attention on all the things that your future spouse loves about you.  Go ahead and ask him (or her) for a list of 5 things they adore about you.  While you are at it, ask others the same question.  You will then have a list of your best assets, which are what really matter to the people who love you.  Surprise, surprise, most of those assets are your personality. 

The most beautiful people are not drop-dead gorgeous, skinny or perfect.  They are people with a big heart, who radiate an inner self-love and self-confidence.  They make others feel good about themselves, and they are delightful to have around. 

In contrast, those who are focused on dieting, being skinnier and trying to be perfect are often insecure and focused on themselves.  They are not always so nice to have around, particularly when they are self-critical or judging others. 

The key to beauty and looking your best is by highlighting your assets, loving yourself as you are, making healthier lifestyle choices that aren't extreme, and smiling.  A genuine engaging smile, no matter what your weight, is stunning and beautiful in photographs.  A year later, you won’t be comparing yourself to pictures of an ideal you may never reach again.  Instead, you will remember how much fun you had, how loved you felt, and how beautiful the day was. 

So think twice before doing the feeding tube diet.  Most extreme diets are medically supervised, but that doesn’t make them healthy or safe.  Doctors don’t have a good track record in helping patients maintain their weight loss when the diet ends.  In fact, nearly all patients regain the weight and end up heavier with a higher body fat percentage.  Many also find themselves at higher risk for diabetes and heart disease.  Be sure you know the facts, and be sure you know yourself before choosing any radical weight loss program.
