Hi, my name is Brenda Deere, and I was a Master's level psychologist in the Raleigh, NC area for 10 years. This past year, I moved to Florida and branched out into Life Coaching and just love it! I've obtained three different certifications, so I can choose which one is right for each individual! My main focus is on Womens' Issues, even though many men deal with the same things.
I especially love working with women who want to lose weight. 7 years ago, I lost 110 lbs. the "hard way" and have kept it off. I've been on and off diets since grade school, and decided "NO MORE!" I don't believe in the word "diet" because to me, going on a diet implies that at some point you will go "off" the diet. I want you to undergo a Permanent LIfestyle Change. Do you solve your emotional and stressful issues by eating? I've been there! This is my specialty! A Weight Loss Life Coach/Counselor is a Life Coach who specializes in helping people lose weight and keep it off FOREVER. If you are looking for a “miracle” or “quick weight loss plan,” I am definitely NOT the coach for you! If, on the other hand, you have made a decision that it is finally time to tackle this issue once and for all, I may just be the perfect Life Coach for you to work with. You will find out much more information about me in the “Introduction” section below, but for now suffice it to say that it took me almost 50 years to come to the DECISION to deal with my weight issues for the LAST TIME. I successfully and slowly lost over 110lbs. over the course of a year, and have managed to keep it off for over six years now, making me one of the few to “break the statistical barrier” which says that less than 5% of those who lose weight will retain their loss for over 5 years. Not very encouraging, it is? And this applies even to those who have undergone bariatric surgery for weight loss. My psychology practice has been largely devoted to helping women lose weight and keep it off. I KNOW that if I can do it, you can, too!

There was no category that pertained to this issue, so I placed it here. It could go anywhere. I have had clients come to me after they've seen my success story online. Some have recently gained weight, and some have experienced weight problems all their lives. Being a psychologist AND a Certified Life Coach enabled me to choose from a wide variety of methods to help them understand the relationship between their weight and their emotions. Most chronic dieters are emotional eaters. We (yes, I still include myself in this category) eat when we're happy, sad, mad, celebrating, grieving, marrying, divorcing...well, you get the idea. I've also come to see many overweight women who are dealing with the addictive qualities of sugar and carbohydrates. Yes, it has now been proven that there is a relationship there. As a matter of fact, you may be surprised to learn that rats were more addicted to sugar than to cocaine! Is it any wonder you've had such a hard time losing weight? I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Life Coaching Stragegies, and Subconscious restructuring to teach women how to control and conquer these urges. I inspire, instill confidence, motivate and assure them that success in losing weight is a matter of both physics and mind over matter. I encourage them, even if they've only lost 1/4lb. that week, to tell themselves that "that's 1/4lb. GONE FOREVER! I don't believe in the word "diet" because going "on a diet" subconsciously tells the brain that you will eventually be "going off the diet" and that isn't going to happen. You need to undergo a PERMANENT LIFESTYLE CHANGE. I know my clients can do this...my job is to convince them to believe it! And I'm pretty good at what I do! So, although this isn't a "success" story for a particular client, and doesn't fit into a nice "category" that I was given to choose from, it's my story and I'm sticking to it.
