About

Kim Gourd has been drawn to helping others succeed throughout her life and career. From mentoring new engineers and marketers to leading new product launch teams, Kim holds a deep-seeded passion for helping individuals find the best of themselves within themselves and using that to achieve their goals. Kim’s career path has taken many turns with each change in course being a deliberate choice to bring balance and satisfaction to her life, always with the goal of conquering new challenges. Her life reflects one of her main coaching principles that People have choices. While at the University of Pennsylvania, Kim played a lead role in the Bioengineering Society advancing from freshman class representative to President of the Society as a senior. She organized and chaired a career fair with corporate attendees from across the country, helped start up and participated in the Engineering Peer Advisory Council, and served on the Dean’s Advisory Committee. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s of Science in both Bioengineering and Materials Science and Engineering, Kim accepted an entry-level position in Product Development with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies. She led the recruiting efforts for her alma mater, set up numerous activities for new hires, and mentored interns, new hires and peers. After two years in Product Development, Kim earned a promotion to Senior Scientist. During her third year at Johnson & Johnson Kim convinced the Vice Presidents of Research and Development and of Marketing to allow her to work in a dual role in Product Development and Marketing. Her experience in Marketing led her to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from The Anderson School at UCLA. Following her MBA program, Kim leveraged her network at Johnson & Johnson and successfully landed a position in Marketing at VISTAKON®, a division of Johnson & Johnson, in 2003. Among Kim’s accomplishments in Marketing she created the New Product Launch Process as well as standards for sales forecasting, helped with new hire training, mentored new hires and peers, and received the Marketer of the Quarter award. After three years Kim earned a promotion to Product Director. With the goal of learning more about the entire organization, Kim orchestrated a transition from Marketing to the Office of Project Management where she was the youngest employee ever approved by Executive Management for a position in the OPM. As an executive-level Director Kim led multi-departmental teams through the process of launching new products into the marketplace. After a satisfying, accomplishment-driven corporate career, Kim decided to follow her passion and pursue a career in coaching. She earned her Certification as a Professional Coach from Fowler-Wainwright International (formerly Coaches Institute International) where she received comprehensive training including lecture, demonstration, and hands-on, one-on-one exercises. Kim is the founder of Quantum Life Solutions which offers Career and Life Coaching. Kim is embracing her role as a Career and Life Coach.
