Sally is a therapist who is licensed in both marriage and family therapy and clinical social work. She has been interested in the helping profession since she was a teenager and has been practicing professionally for over 30 years.

In her career, Sally has worked in the non-profit and governmental sector as well as in a private clinical setting. Sally has worked with abused and neglected children, taught social workers in state government about counseling with children and families and also served as adjunct faculty for the University of Louisville’s Kent School of Social Work, the post-master’s Marriage and Family Therapy Program and The Louisville Seminary. She taught several classes over the years, among them were Couples Counseling and Introduction To Family Therapy.

Sally and her husband, John Turner, have been specializing in couple work for over 15 years. Sally’s style is very practical and direct. She relies a great deal on the research of John Gottman, PhD. Gottman’s research has clearly identified the skills, beliefs and knowledge that are present in healthy relationships and Sally incorporates this into her everyday practice with couples.

She also uses the strengths and resources from the style of a solution-focused counseling approach. Clients appreciate the approach that does not linger on the problem, rather finds ways to quickly work toward solutions.

Sally has experienced many things in her life. She is a wife, mother, sister, grandmother (just ask about those grandchildren!), mother-in-law, neighbor and friend. She has experienced loss and stress in her own life; however, she and John have a healthy, happy life with involvement in the community, church, family, hobbies and volunteer work.
