Kelly Clarkson has managed to keep her personal life very private although has no problem writing about the ups and downs of her relationships in her music ("I Do Not Hook Up", "Since You've Been Gone", etc.). Kelly was open about her 7-month relationship Oklahoma-born rocker Graham Colton. The two split in February 2007.

In February of 2009, rumors surfaced that Kelly Clarkson was gay. Although she denied the rumors she did say that "People are like, 'Are you secretly a lesbian? Because I'd really love it.' Lesbians tell it to me all the time. I'm like, 'I'm glad it works for you and I wish I liked women like that because oftentimes men are very hard for me, but I happen to like boys.' "
