McConaughey poked fun at his own tendency to go shirtless and ratcheted up the tension before presenting the award by relating an anecdote about charming the ladies of Tyler, Texas, back in 1987 by pretending to be country legend George Strait's custom boot-maker. "We got lucky that night; thank you, George," McConaughey said, to the visible delight of Mr. Strait.
