If you exercise excessively, you may have anxiety issues. Here's how to recover.
In cases of excessive exercising, a person treats their own body as an object rather than as a subject (i.e., they experience themselves as "you" instead of "I"). This objectification of the self allows one to feel a sense of control regarding some aspect of oneself, or one's relationships with others, that otherwise seems out of control.
In reading philosophical teachings and writings, I often wonder why the body and the ego are seen so negatively, as if they somehow are antithetical to spirituality. Although ego, body and mind are not all we are, each is part, an expression of the whole self, included in our precious gifts from God, the Universe, Life, Spirit. It would be as sensible to hate or degrade a mathematical problem given me by a teacher for learning purposes. Of course I can be frustrated in my efforts to solve a difficult problem; that is merely an expression of my eagerness to achieve.
The grass won't be greener on the other side if you spend more time watering your own lawn.
Jealousy can get the best of anyone. It can creep up when least expected. Triggered by seeing photos of a boyfriend’s former lover with amazing hair and a perfect figure, a neighbor pulling up in the driveway with a shiny new car or a best friend who arrives for a dinner date carrying a ‘too die for’ handbag.
The harmful messages you send your kids without even knowing it.
In all my years as a parent educator, I have never met parents who earnestly wanted to hurt their children. Most parents sincerely want to encourage and empower their children to lead strong, successful lives. However, it is their lack of mindfulness that defaults into old patterns and belief systems that teach their children harmful messages rather accidently.
How I found strength in pain and learned to ride life's most tumultuous waves.
I'm Jodie Rodenbaugh and this is my story. It's a story that only I direct. This is my story of feeling stripped of everything I once knew. My experience left me naked and vulnerable, but through that pain, I found strength from a power much greater than myself.
Plastic boobs are gross and tacky. You might as well be a mannequin.
See what dumb things women have done for bigger breasts. Ladies, so not worth it!
If there's a lesson to be learned from Jami Lynn Toler, the Arizona woman accused of faking cancer to raise money for breast implants, it's that some things are just not worth doing for fake boobs.
Gaga bravely posted photos of herself in response to reports that she'd gained weight.
Viral TED video speaker and researcher Brene Brown states, "vulnerability is the cure for shame."
This morning I discovered a new post and blog by Lady Gaga which showed un-retouched photographs of her in minimal clothing, looking thin. The post was in response to reports that Gaga had gained weight.
Today's music and models of perfection are something may be something to discuss with your daughter.
By Child/Adolescent Therapist, Signe Whitson, to GalTime.com
How many times have you heard your daughter singing along to a popular song on the radio and innocently belting out the kind of lyrics that would otherwise get her sent to her room? In the moment, you believe (desperately want to believe!) that she is unaware of the innuendo and unaffected by its explicit content.
He promised me his roommate was all a girl could ever want in a man . . .
Panty Parade / Off Go the Panties
The words that keep running through my mind this morning are, “Oh, my God . . . .Oh, my God. . . . OH, MY GOD!” Again and again this simple I-can’t-believe-I-got-fucked-like-I-did mantra seeps into my brain taking me back to last night.
