The truth is, all marriages are only as good as the people in them, which is to say, they aren't that great at all. But do our inherent imperfections make marriage and monogamy a dying societal institution? No. Reports of marriage's demise have been greatly exaggerated. No ring, no dress and no promise, can make a person or relationship perfect. And sometimes it takes the rose colored glasses being smashed to smithereens, before we can accept and love what we have in an open and honest way. And while 2010 has been part of that destruction, in a small way it's also contributed to our acceptance of love as it is, not as we want it to be.

Somewhere in a safe deposit box lies evidence* that former Vice-President Al Gore is a "crazed sex poodle." The items? Since we haven't seen a famous couple break up for a reason other than infidelity in a long time, it makes sense that the public and media have been dreaming up all kinds of reasons for Al and Tipper Gore's recent split. Most of these daydreams include cheating...and Star Magazine would like us to believe that Al was carrying on an affair for the past two years with Laurie David, producer of "An Inconvenient Truth" and comedian Larry David's ex-wife.
Did Al Gore cheat? Or are the tabloid magazines just having a slow news day? It's hard to tell.
After Al and Tipper Gore announced their separation recently after 40 years of marriage, we had some ideas about what might have made them split and infidelity was number one on our list. Evidently, were weren’t alone with those suspicions.
The National Enquirer (who, in case you forgot, was nominated for Pulitzer Prize this year for reporting on the indiscretions of John Edwards, so, you know, their experts about this stuff) also had the same idea, and has rounded up a list of women that Al might have been cheating on Tipper with, including a cabinet member, a massage therapist, “a sultry screen star,” and a cheerleader.
We're just as stumped as you are, but here are 4 theories about the Gore divorce.
Al and Tipper Gore were Washington's fairytale couple—especially when they stood next to the Clintons.
The high-school sweethearts stuck together through the rearing of four children, Al's eight tumultuous years as Vice President, and through his devastating loss to George W. Bush in the 2000 presidential election.
Luckily it seemed that things had gotten better for them in recent years—heck, Al won a Nobel Peace Prize in 2007! And who can forget the famous kiss at the 2000 Democratic Convention? Yes, we admit it was a bit painful to witness, but before the Age of Obama, a glimpse into a happy, loving, political couple was such a breath of fresh air. "Wow," we all thought to ourselves, "if they're still happily married, there must be some hope for me!"
But then, after 40 years of marriage the Gore's pulled the rug out from us all by announcing their separation. They didn't divulge much, saying only that the separation was "a mutual and mutually supportive decision".
Well, like the rest of the country, the lack of information has driven us to speculation. The following are our best theories as to what may have caused the split.

To complement his bachelor life, he also doesn't want any kids.
In addition to wanting to maintain the bachelor lifestyle, George Clooney doesn't want kids. While the 2 seem to go hand in hand, he explained his rationale for the latter. It seems like someone really wants the public at-large to beg him for kids. For the good of the planet.
