To that end, I rounded up these 5 key facts about Meghan Markle's ex-husband:

1. Their marriage only lasted for two years.

Markle and Engelson, who grew up in Great Neck, New York and attended the University of Southern California, were married on September 10, 2011, in a relatively small and casual affair with just 102 of their closest family and friends at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

The two dated for 6 years before finally taking their vows.

2. He is a successful Hollywood producer.

While Meghan might be incredibly successful in front of the camera, Engelson has become equally successful behind the camera. He built his career in the entertainment industry from the ground up, starting out as a production assistant and working his way on up. He now owns a production and talent management company called Underground Films.

In 2007, he co-produced the movie License to Wed starring Robin Williams, John Kransinski and Mandy Moore. In 2009, he was the executive producer on All About Steve with Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper. In 2010, he served as producer on the 9/11 drama, Remember Mestarring everyone's favorite sparkle vampire, Robert Pattinson.

In addition, he is said to manage several screenwriters, actors, directors and novelists.

While sources claim he is still very much in love with Markle, Engelson isn't letting her royal engagement slow him down. He is currently the executive producer on Snowfall, the FX series about the early 80s crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles, and he is set to be the executive producer of several episodes of the upcoming television series Heathers, an adaptation of the cult classic film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.

3. Her career reportedly contributed to their split.

While the couple never gave a public statement to the press regarding their reason for divorcing, Woman's Day shared this report from an inside source:

"Meghan landed her role in Suits just a few months before they married... Trevor was based in LA while Meghan was in Toronto, a five-hour flight away. It was a very difficult way to start married life."

Although it didn't make major headlines and the couple tried to keep things quiet, Us Weekly reported on their separation back in September of 2013, citing that old favorite, irreconcilable differences.

4. He may be developing a TV show inspired by their marriage.

While some say Trevor has been offered more than $1 million to write a book detailing his relationship with Meghan, it appears as though he has rejected the idea to date. Of course, that doesn't mean he's ruled out the idea of somehow turning a profit off of his failed marriage.

In September of 2017, Deadline recently reported that Engelson is developing a comedy based on the premise:

"Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder. Sharing custody with the British Royal family when your wife marries a prince, in the unforgiving spotlight of London’s tabloid media, is next level."

The Deadline piece went on to say, "It should be noted that the comedy is fictional, the lead characters are not based on Markle or Engelson, who have no kids together, and she has had no involvement in the project. Still, it is fair to say that the show was inspired by real-life events. The comedy originated with Engelson and fellow producer Farah who, in a conversation, mused about what would’ve been if Engelson and Markle had kids and he had to share custody with the British Royal family one day."

The article was shared on Underground Film's Facebook, so chances seem likely it is true.

5. You probably shouldn't feel too bad for him...

Although he is believed to have been heartbroken by his divorce, Engelson seems to be moving on just fine. Soon after his split from Markle, he began dating 24-year-old Baywatch babe Charlotte McKinney.

After their relationship ended, he moved on to dietician Tracey Kurland, who he is believed to still be dating.

We're sure the old chap will be JUST fine.
