Amanda Edwards suffered four fractures in her face as a result of the attack.

Amanda Edwards went to the grocery store Monday night to buy dinner for her and her three children in Federal Way, Washington. While walking out of Safeway, a man pulled up in his car and asked her for directions.

That innocent interaction became anything but when he took out his genitals and started fondling himself while smiling.

"You have to have a pretty crazy mind to go around and think that it’s OK to do something like that," Edwards told Q13 Fox. She rightfully told the man to get lost, and he drove away — towards another mother and her young girl.

Edwards attempted to take a photo of his car and then yelled at the mother and anyone else in the parking lot to stay away from him because he was masturbating in public. He took off, and she believed the horrible ordeal was over.

So she began her half mile walk back home and was soon attacked from behind.

Edwards was followed, grabbed from behind and savagely beaten. She says it was the same man who she had called out for inappropriate behavior just minutes before.

"The next thing I know I was waking up on the ground [before] running home," she said. "I didn’t realize I had been hit multiple times in my face." And, scarily enough, according to her, he said "I got you," right before he attacked her.

"He was extremely aggressive and when he came up and he said ‘I got you’ and when he started laughing--it was one of the most evil laughs I’ve heard," Edwards said. "I mean to me he had a rapist mentality."

"He put time into following me and getting out of his car and running up on me and attacking me and I feel like if he got away with it, he would probably feel like he can do it again."

The attack left the mother of three with four fractures in her face. She now needs surgical plates reconstructed in her cheeks. "I’ve never had that fear in my life. I’ve never felt like I can’t walk and be free and protect myself," said Edwards. "I think that’s what bothers me the most is that I didn’t get a chance to get away."

Edwards said she wants to warn other people before this man strikes again. According to her, the suspect is a Pacific Islander in his 20s to 30s with a slim but solid build. He was wearing a beanie at the time of the attack. "The thought that I can’t walk out the door without feeling like this guy is somewhere around here--that hits so close to home," said Edwards.

She described the car he was driving as a 4-door white sedan, possibly a Ford Focus, with extensive damage to the entire passenger side of the car. Police just recently arrested the suspect after locating his car though Safeway surveillance video. Edwards said despite her injuries, she would do it all again.

"You can't just approach women and treat women or anybody in general the way he did," she said.
