Love, Self

Sometimes when you know, you just know.

On Thursday, October 19th, there will be a new moon in Libra highlighting all of our relationships.

Understanding and seeing our relationships for what they are is not always something we want to do. At times it’s easier to keep our heads buried in the sand and ignore any inkling that things might be off because we’re not always ready for the truth.

While the big eclipse that we had in August is no longer a buzzword, in truth we are just seeing the fallout from that materialize in our own lives. In the past few weeks, we have seen Venus and Mars cross in the sky and Jupiter enter into Scorpio for the next year; in combination with this influence of Libra, we will all be searching for balance within our lives.

Libra is the sign of the scales and relationships, which means with this new moon we are ready to start a new chapter in our romantic lives.

We all have issues that we have to work through, and for many of us, the best way for us to do that is through relationships. That means we don’t always make the best choices. But that doesn’t mean that they are true mistakes either.

In life, we have to learn through love. We have to practice how to love and learn how we want to be loved and, in reality, this is a process that takes years for most of us to achieve. During that time period, we play with lovers who perhaps seem like a test we were never destined to win rather than a love affair that will last forever.

But we don’t always just leave when the going gets tough because no matter how hard it becomes, we know that we’re meant to stick it out. Maybe it’s because there’s an essential lesson in it or it might be because only those who can stick through the chaos end up with that great love.

Sometimes we don’t even know why we make the choices we do in love, yet we carry on toward some distant point almost as if we were following the pull of the north star like a compass to our hearts.

There are times when the stars truly align in such a way not to magically engineer some fairytale ending, but to show us the meaning behind what we’ve been struggling with and to give fate just a little bit of a push.

The time for many of us to transition into healthier more stable relationships is going to be felt more and more strongly during this new moon in Libra. In part because of the current astral configurations, but also because of the current shift astrologically from one cycle into another; we’ll be more motivated to seek and recognize balance in our love lives.

Venus has recently moved into Libra as well, which is basically like putting this new moon on steroids. Venus is the planet of love, and when she moves into Libra she’s at home there as one of the two signs that she dominates. It’s not just love, but the deep, the meaningful; the "I can’t live without you" kind of love. Venus doesn’t like love just for the sake of love, though; she really only invests in those relationships that are worth her time.

So are you investing in something that is building you stronger? Or is it depleting your strength and value? Do you have to sacrifice more of what you want in order to keep your relationship alive? Or do you feel inspired by the person that you’re with?

Or the biggest question, I suppose, is: Are you done with your lessons in love?

We can’t actually move into a balanced, healthier version of love if we still want to remain stuck in our lessons. We’ll know that the time has come for us to only propose that which actively calls to us because of how our soul feels around certain people. It’s almost as if in those relationships that we feel the most supported in, will actually allow us to breathe easier, instead of feeling stifled to the point of drowning in a reality we’ve long outgrown.

But not all of us are in relationships, but that doesn’t mean that we will be escaping the energies that will be surrounding us during the coming week. For those who are single, the work will be more introspective, focusing on not only the relationship with our self but also on what we accept and need from others.

Venus will be encouraging all of us to fall in love a little more deeply in the coming weeks — with ourselves, our partners and in our lives. It’s about moving away from the mundane, the superficial and the feeling of commitment that seems to strangle the life out of us.

The aspect that we all have to realize for ourselves is that this life is only what we make of it. If we expect to be disappointed or to struggle within our relationships or even within our own identity of self, the reality is that we will.

Yet, if we open the door for more — for healthy love, for amazing connection and for a life that is worth its weight gold — then we will also be part of the hand that manifests that beautiful reality.

New moons are also a time for new beginnings. Sometimes there is no better time to start something new than now, and with Venus on the scene not only will it be done in love but it just might last forever.

After all, we don’t need every relationship we enter into to last forever, but only one, especially if it’s the right one.
