EVERYTHING You Need To Know About Zodiac Signs Born On The Cusp
Buzz, Self

Are two signs better than one?

Your sun sign — the sign you tell people when they ask about your zodiac sign — lies at the center of your being, much in the way the Sun at the lies the center of our solar system. This core aspect of your being doesn't mean it's located in the center of your body or that it's similar to your third eye or anything like that. Rather, it manifests your most basic and true personality traits.

When you check out your weekly horoscope or read about which pet you’re most likely to own based on your astrological sign, whatever it is you find out is being based on your sun sign.

While your sun sign is what inherently makes you who you are, you also have both a moon sign and a rising (or ascendant) sign (there are also meanings behind the other planets your sign is in, but this will be enough complicated astrology talk for one article, thanks).

Your moon sign depicts your inner you, the you that no one else sees, while your rising sign depicts your outward personality, what the people around you see most often.

Of course, everyone only has one sun sign, just as we each only have one moon sign and one rising sign, and these three signs can be, and most often are, all different from one another.

But when you are born within a narrow range of days just before and after the change to the next sun sign on the charts, it changes everything you thought you knew about yourself.

This short number of days — typically spanning less than a week — falls in the period of time during which the Sun is moving from one zodiac sign to the next.

For example, when Cancer season ends and Leo season begins, and you may find that you can finally stop crying over what now seems like nothing and start focusing on treating yourself like a princess for a change.

If you were born within the dates of this transition from one sign to the next, it is said that you were born on the cusp between two sun signs.

This means that whether you are aware of it or not, you most likely influenced by not just one but two signs — both your sun sign and the one that comes just before or after yours in the astrological calendar.

That doesn’t mean what you thought was your zodiac sign has been wrong all this time and now you have to pretend you're happy to be a Gemini when you really just want to go back to being a Taurus again. It just means you probably have some character traits that could be attributed to either Taurus or Gemini.

Pretty neat, huh?!

Some people born on the cusp may never feel totally connected with either sign.

You might read your daily horoscope and think to yourself, “Nah, that’s totally not about me” one minute, then, “YASS, the stars totally nailed it!” the next.

Or, you may experience the complete opposite and feel like you can relate to BOTH signs even more than everyone else because you are so strongly aligned with them both.

I know, I know. This can be really confusing, and if you’re born on the cusp, you might be wondering what these crazy mix of traits are anyway and how they even relate to you at all.

Well, no need to wonder any longer because I got chu because there IS an explanation for why you feel both so out of whack and completely in tune with everyone at the same time. And no, it’s not because Mercury is in retrograde.

So here is your official guide to everything you need to know about those of you who born on the cusp between two signs.

Aries-Taurus (April 16 – 22)

The Cusp of Power

An Aries-Taurus cusp is a force to be reckoned with. Both signs are unforgettable on their own, but together, those on the cusp are almost too intense to be around. You can count on this combination to be extremely bold, both in her words and in her actions. While this intensity can get an Aries-Taurus cusp very far in life, watch out, because it’s twice as hard for her to shut it off.

Being a force to be reckoned with can be just as detrimental as it can be good. For an Aries-Taurus cusp, aggressiveness in almost everything she does isn’t out of the question. She can also be very opinionated, to the point where it’s almost impossible to get away from the subject at hand. Aries-Taurus might know she’s super intense, but it’s being able to rein it in that’s a challenge.

Taurus-Gemini (May 17 – 23)

The Cusp of Energy

Having a combination of two youthful, go-getter type signs is a very frenzied, but VERY enthusiastic cusp. This ability to always go out there and get what she wants makes a Taurus-Gemini cusp incredibly successful. Not only that, but this cusp also combines two extremely clever signs, which means that it isn’t uncommon for her to choose the road less traveled on her path to success.

All of this energy needs to burn out sometime, right? Not with Taurus-Gemini. In fact, this constant “go, go, go” type attitude is incredibly exhausting for those around her, as not many people can keep up with her. This can alienate her in a way because she’s not going to stop just because someone says she should. Taurus-Gemini cusps also have to watch out for overindulgence. This combination can be deadly when it comes to material things.

Gemini-Cancer (June 17 – 23)

The Cusp of Magic

Having two idealistic signs in one makes for an incredibly magical cusp. Both Gemini and Cancer are lighthearted and fun, and they thrive on making their days as free-flowing as possible. This inspirational way of living might seem too dreamy for some, but it somehow works for a Gemini-Cancer cusp to always have her head in the clouds.

No matter what this combination sign does in life, she either does it with absolute and utter devotion or not at all. That said, when things don’t go her way, she can slip into a VERY dark mood and can even become self-destructive. Yes, it’s important to want to help others and see them succeed (especially if you can be there to guide them), but not to your own detriment, Gemini-Cancer.

Cancer-Leo (July 19 – 25)

The Cusp of Oscillation

A Cancer-Leo cusp is incredibly difficult to define, which is why it is so common for her to vibrate between both signs on a frequent basis. Coming from her Cancer side, this cusp is incredibly sensitive and caring, and she always looks out for the people in her life. From her Leo side, though, she is very expressive and extroverted, and won’t let people soon forget about her.

While those traits are very important to have and are a rare combination at that, this vibration between the two signs can be confusing and erratic. A Cancer-Leo cusp is often conflicted and volatile, making it almost impossible for others to pin her down. It might depend on the day or her surroundings, but even then, there’s no way to prepare for what’s to come.

Leo-Virgo (August 19 – 25)

The Cusp of Exposure

On their own, Leo and Virgo are two headstrong, determined signs. So, when you put them together to create a Leo-Virgo cusp, you get someone who is super hardworking — almost to a fault. This cusp is also very passionate about life and everything she does, which makes her such a great leader and role model.

That said, there is constant internal criticism going on in this cusp’s head because things can always be better to her. Unfortunately, two perfectionists don’t make for a laid-back person. Instead, this criticism can turn into melodramatic behavior, which only makes her even more impossible to reason with. This over-the-top reaction is rather common in a Leo-Virgo cusp.

Virgo-Libra (September 19 – 25)

The Cusp of Beauty

If you had to describe a Virgo-Libra cusp in only one word, the word you’d be looking for would be “genius.” Both Virgo and Libra are crazy intelligent, making them a source of jealousy for many people. That said, this cusp also has an artistic side, which makes her more than just book-smart. She uses her ever-present rationality to make informed, yet original choices.

However, while the Virgo-Libra cusp is imaginatively intelligent, she is still a very introspective person, making it easy to close herself off from other people. This cusp is often detached from her family and friends, as well as very materialistic. Success for a Virgo-Libra is most important when it’s tangible, rather than emotional or mental.

Libra-Scorpio (October 19 – 25)

The Cusp of Drama

The Libra-Scorpio cusp doesn’t seem like it would be a good match at first glance, but in fact, these two signs are quite harmonious. They share incredibly good judgment — both in relation to their own lives and as founts of advice for their friends and family — which helps them stay on the right path in life. These signs also share precision in everything they do, making a Libra-Scorpio cusp amazing in difficult situations.

Of course, Libra and Scorpio both have their downfalls, making it easy to see how this cusp could be very dramatic. Having a good head on her shoulders doesn’t always keep her from being arrogant, which can often be her downfall in life. This combination sign is also incredibly cynical, making it hard for her to get out of her own head and deal with things without her opinion attached to them.

Scorpio-Sagittarius (November 18 – 24)

The Cusp of Revolution

What does a combination of two intensely intense signs get you? That’s right, a Scorpio-Sagittarius cusp. This cusp can often be like a tornado: in and out of your life quickly, but not before shaking things up. Both signs are known for being strong and bold, which is why this combination of Scorpio and Sagittarius is often too much for some people.

Scorpio and Sagittarius both have a knack for being rebellious, which is good in some situations, but a whole heap of trouble in others. This cusp isn’t afraid to speak her mind, either, but not every situation calls for being blunt to the point of offensive (although she doesn’t know that). She can also be selfish, often choosing her way over the highway as it were, which doesn’t always sit well with others.

Sagittarius-Capricorn (December 18 – 24)

The Cusp of Prophecy

Sagittarius and Capricorn are both successful, outgoing people, but for different reasons. Sagittarius’ outgoing nature makes her someone to know, which is why just being herself makes her so successful. As for Capricorn, her brains and willingness to push boundaries (and get to know everyone) makes her super successful. Combine the two and you get a smart, popular girl.

While you can confidently call a Sagittarius-Capricorn cusp responsible and mature, she may convince herself that she’s her own best partner, making her impossible to cooperate with. This closed-off, stubborn nature can turn her into more of a “step on everyone you can” type of person when she's climbing the ladder of success instead of a “make friends and network” type of gal. Either way, she’s got a bright future ahead of her.

Capricorn-Aquarius (January 16 – 22)

The Cusp of Mystery

The Capricorn-Aquarius cusp is a mystery not everyone can solve, herself included. If any one sign or combination of signs could be considered an “ambivert” this cusp is it. Taking traits from both sides of the cusp, a Capricorn-Aquarius combination is flamboyant and shy, reserved and social. It may seem confusing or weird (which both signs have been called before) but that’s this cusp for you.

However, as intriguing and mysterious as a combination sign with traits on both sides of the spectrum may seem, it actually can just froth into an unbalanced mess. Instead of being able to bounce quickly from trait to trait in order to adapt to any situation, a Capricorn-Aquarius often gets caught up in trying to be both herself and someone everyone approves of, which only adds to her flip-flopping personality.

Aquarius-Pisces (February 15 – 21)

The Cusp of Sensitivity

An Aquarius-Pisces cusp is unlike any other cusp you’ll meet. Combining the artistic side of Pisces with the more spiritual side of Aquarius makes for an ethereal cusp. This Aquarius-Pisces cusp is also offbeat, meaning she doesn’t lose sleep over the opinions of others. She does whatever makes her happy, even if it means she often gets lost in her own head.

While this might seem dreamy and admirable to fellow Aquarius and Pisces, to others, it seems a bit flaky. Instead of thinking about herself and others equally, she ends up becoming preoccupied and forgetful, often forgoing plans with friends in order to work on her own stuff. This inability to make time for both herself and the people in her life is something this cusp needs to revisit.

Pisces-Aries (March 17 – 23)

The Cusp of Rebirth

This combination of Pisces and Aries is a rare and valuable one. It brings together the dreamer part of Pisces with the doer side of Aries, creating a dynamic cusp that not only knows what she wants, but is able to go out and get it. A Pisces-Aries cusp is often direct, meaning she’s going to do EXACTLY what she came here to do. She also knows that her future is limitless, which should both intrigue and scare you a little.

All of that aside, if things don’t get moving when she wants them to, she can become terribly impatient and almost impossible to work with. Of course, she knows this, which is why she will sometimes choose to do her own thing instead of deal with people who don’t see the future the way she does. This antisocial behavior can hurt her, but a Pisces-Aries cusp is often torn between the introverted and extroverted natures of both signs.
