It's official, Summer Phoenix has filed for divorce from Casey Affleck.

You may be asking, who is Casey Affleck's wife? And who in the heck is Summer Phoenix?  She is known for being an actress, model, designer and Joaquin Phoenix's younger sister. Her brother was River Phoenix who died of a drug overdose in 1993 at the Viper Room in West Hollywood.

Summer is asking for joint physical and legal custody of the two kids she shares with Casey Affleck — sons Indiana, 12, and Atticus, 9. According to court documents, she's also seeking spousal support.

They began dating in 2000, and got married in 2006 after the birth of their first son. Though Affleck, 40, and Phoenix, 37, have been married for 10 years, the last time they were publically seen together was at an event in 2014.

Casey thanked his wife Summer in his speech when he won a Golden Globe for best actor earlier this year.

"And to their mom that gave me just about every good acting idea I ever had," he said. "Thank you very much, I love you."

They announced their split last March, and a source close to them says they remain close friends.

Though Summer cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their breakup, we have some other theories:

RELATED: 4 Reasons Why Jennifer Garner Officially Filed For Divorce From Ben Affleck

1. Casey fell victim to the "Oscar's Curse."

Typically, the Oscar Love Curse is supposed to only affect women. Since the 1930s, some people believe that the woman who wins the award for best actress will soon have her husband or boyfriend cheat on her with a divorce soon to follow. There are 29 actresses whose divorces are evidence of that.

But, some men have also been affected. Nicolas Cage, Kirk Douglas, and Sam Mendes all had fallings out with their marriages after winning Oscar gold.

2. Summer Phoenix couldn't trust Casey Affleck after his sexual assault allegations.

About seven years ago, two women who worked with Casey on his film, "I'm Still Here," filed sexual harassment suits against him. One said he crawled into bed with her without her consent, and another alleged that he pressured her to stay in his hotel room and violently grabbed her arm when she refused.

The women also claimed he told another employee to expose himself to one of them, and accused the film's star, Joquin Phoenix, of locking himself with Casey in the women's shared hotel room to have sex with them. Both cases were settled in court in undisclosed amounts in 2010.

In 2016, he said: "It was settled to the satisfaction of all. I was hurt and upset—I am sure all were—but I am over it. It was an unfortunate situation—mostly for the innocent bystanders of the families of those involved.”

This must have taken some sort of toll on their marriage, and when they announced their split back in 2016, and an insider said Summer was had "trust issues."

3. Summer was tired of the way Casey treated women.

It's super possible that after all rumors about how Casey treats women came out that she couldn't take it anymore.

During the sexual allegation lawsuits, many women came forward and talked about how disgusting they thought he was. One female colleague even claimed she was “exposed to so much degradation and exhaustion that she vomited."

Court papers state that he routinely referred to women as "cows."

Yeah, who would want to be married to that?
