If He Treats You Like An Option, Remove Yourself From The Equation

Love, Self

Like, bye.

Dating is a weird game, and if you're consciously thinking of yourself, you're going to lose. Bad.

When guys are single, they tend to cast the net wide. They hit up as many girls as they can (without looking like a creep or a d-bag), and hope to catch at least one.

And the cuter the guy, the more fish he has. Terrible reference, but you get what I'm saying.

It's always safer to assume that the person you're talking to is also talking to five other girls.

You don't need to accuse them of it or bring it up even but just keep it in the forefront of your mind. It helps to keep you from doing things like sleeping with him too soon, or taking yourself out of the dating game before he does.

So in the beginning — ideally — you'll both be at similar levels of dating.

And while we'd love for that to mean that neither of you is talking to anyone else, it's usually the exact opposite.

You both have Tinder convos going, Bumble messages ringing and your co-workers are setting you up with every single person they can think of.

When you first meet, you're both just options for each other. And that's okay. But in order to keep that balance, you have to keep yourself in check.

The moment you feel yourself feeling real feelings (tongue twister), you need to evaluate the situation: are you a priority to this guy, or just an option?

And more importantly: are you treating him like a priority or just an option?

If a relationship is on the horizon, it should feel like you're leading up to one — not walking in circles.

You should feel like your place in his life is progressing at the same rate as your feelings. So if you feel like there is an imbalance, it's time to take a step back.

You can't make someone a priority if they only make you an option.

You can't give someone so much room in yourself and so much influence over your emotions if they're still talking to 20 girls and you've deleted your Tinder account.

Don't make the mistake of waiting around for a guy to realize how awesome you are.

Walk away and wait for someone to come along who doesn't need a reminder.
