You can now enjoy this childhood favorite... the adult way.

As kids, the mighty grilled cheese sandwich was one of the best lunches known to man (after pizza, that is, because let's face it, pizza rules the food world).

Just imagine it: That ooey-gooey cheesy goodness in between finely toasted bread... and if you're one of them meat aficionados, you add a piece of bacon or ham and you have the perfect meal.

Now, as adults, we can take it a step further! Introducing to you to a childhood favorite with an adult twist: red wine grilled cheese sandwich. Take a look!

A recipe created by food blogger, BS In The Kitchen, this grilled cheese is described by Elite Daily as "the food equivalent of a night in with your best friend." And you don't have to be a fancy chef to make one of these either.

"Take your favorite wine and cheese pairing, give the wine a quick reduction, spread it, stack that cheese, grill it and DEVOUR IT!" says the blogger.

All you need are the following ingredients:

  • French bread (2 slices)
  • A tablespoon of butter
  • Half a chopped red onion
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • A tablespoon of flour
  • 3/4 cup of red wine
  • 1/2 cup of cheese

Step 1: Melt the butter in a pan using medium heat and add the onions.

Step 2: When the onions have softened, add the garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Sauté for a few minutes.

Step 3: Sprinkle the flour and once that's mixed in, add the wine.

Step 4: Reduce until all the alcohol has burned off and it's thick enough to coat a spoon. Taste the reduction to be sure all the alcohol has burned off.

Step 5: Take your bread and spread the reduction onto each slice, and then add the cheese. Butter the outside of the slices.

Step 6: Grill to perfection.

Step 7: Enjoy!

Easy, right?
