Everyone loves a good story that tugs at the heart strings. Nothing makes a person feel motivated to run out into the world and conquer fear like listening to how another human being has defeated their own demons and setbacks.
If you're looking for real-life stories of flesh and blood people, then Dreams Over Drinks by Zach Resnick is the place to go.
His website and Instagram highlight everyday people and gives you the chance to peek into their hopes, dreams, failures, and lessons — giving light not only to what makes each and every one of us unique — and what brings us all together.
Each person's story or quote is told in first-person, with information on how to follow them on their own social media accounts.
What resonates deepest with this project is the sense that all of us are individuals set on a path to self-discovery, and we have to realize that uncertainty is okay. Sharing each other's stories, quotes, hopes and dreams helps us feel less isolated and more connected to the people around us.
As stated by Zach, "Dreams Over Drinks is about sharing stories and having meaningful conversations that we can all relate and learn from. That's the beauty of humanity. We all have a life and a story worth sharing."
We asked Zach how he came up with the idea to launch Dreams Over Drinks, and here's what he had to say:
YourTango: Where did you get the inspiration to start Dreams Over Drinks?
Zach Resnick: The inspiration to start Dreams Over Drinks came from an experience I had in my junior year of college where I was feeling lost, stuck and unsure about how to answer the question, 'What do you want to do with your life?'
I wrote myself a letter in an effort to get out of that mental and physical space that was so debilitating, I was inspired by the movie Wild to go on a solo road trip to Oregon and figure myself out.
Since I was by myself, I knew I had to create the experience for myself and go against what I thought was comfortable, so I explored, visited bars and coffee shops and had really great conversations with strangers — and that's when it hit me: I love connecting with people's stories. Everyone's story is worth sharing, and there is so much I can learn from having these meaningful conversations.
I thought about these and all the amazing conversations I had with my friends at school and realized that if I can take so much from these conversations, I know these ideas could resonate with someone else too so I started the Instagram and went on from there.
YT: What is the best thing that has come out of starting your project?
ZR: The best thing that has come from starting Dreams Over Drinks definitely has to be the people I've met. I've already met with about 100 hundred people that probably wouldn't otherwise be in my life and I am so inspired by what each of them has shared with me.
I have learned so much from them and after being in that space together, I am happy to call many of them my friends.
YT: What are your hopes and dreams for this?
ZR: My dream for this account is to continue growing the community and to keep sharing how people are thinking and feeling. Everyone is the sum of their own unique experiences, and I think by giving people a safe and comfortable place to be vulnerable, it is a really special opportunity for people to connect and learn from one another.
It's really an effort to inspire and spread love and positivity so I hope that I can expand this some day and share stories from people all around the country and the world!
We've gathered what we think are some of the best (they are ALL really good!) stories. You're sure to get hooked, or maybe decide to share your own story.

Zach first met Amanda at the 2016 Laguna Beach Insta-meet, and shortly after Amanda and he met over coffee to talk about her passion for photography and filmmaking.
Amanda is originally from Florida, but shortly after graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams. Originally, she wanted to enter the military, but fate took a turn and she was unable to due to an illness that struck her at a young age. She shares how what she couldn't understand before makes perfect sense to her now.
Amanda states, "I'm trying to capture stories within my life span that will hopefully, when I die, have an impact on future generations."
2. "I just want to make sustainable fashion to be fun and trendy." — Allison

A longtime friend of Zach's, Allison shares a story rooted in major change. If you've ever had to make a difficult decision about your career and future after some investment of time and money, Allison's story will resonate. When her love of design collided with her determination to leave a gentle footprint on the planet, she made the decision to change her career goals.
Allison states, "I kind of had a change of heart and I knew about halfway into my schooling that I wanted to go into graphic design. I can still be creative, I can still have fun, I can still do all this, but I won't be putting this massive impact on the environment, which I'm so passionate about. It's kind of the best of both worlds because I can harness my creativity and use it in an environmentally friendly way that coincides with my other values."
3. "I kind of want to do enough art so that at the very end of my life I can say I know myself." — Sonia
She's all about following the road of life where it leads. She shares how art is at the center of her life process.
She states, "My dream is to be a part of the world that you want to live in and just eventually live up to a place where I'm okay with dying. I want to live a fulfilling life and if that means making a name for myself, sure, but if it doesn't, as long as I'm a part of people's lives in a really good way."
4. "You know, if I want to encourage kids to be bold enough to share then I need to be bold enough to share as well." — Alex
Alex Lewis fell into his passion after being pulled into a poetry slam and it his life goals changed from there. Taking from the inspiration to use his creative energy for good, he took the idea of leaving words of encouragement on plane windows and now shares poetry on car windows every chance he gets.
His dream is "to create a space where people can not only create, but be encouraged in their creativity."

5. "I don't see myself doing anything else than adventuring out, discovering new places, exploring and keeping my curiosity alive." — Karen
If you love a story about creative energy meeting opportunity, Karen talks about wanting to create opportunities relating to her passions and wanting to put them out to the rest of the world.
"I want to be able to express myself through my art and do it on my own terms. ... You've got to surround yourself with people that inspire you, that make you feel better, that make you feel like you can take on anything," she explains. "Everything is connected that way."
