Let's just go down the list...
Regardless of how you feel about Donald Trump as a political candidate, there's no denying that he’s a walking, talking fountain of meme-worthy quotes. Trump has a long, and frankly, frightening history of being terrible when it comes to women's rights (and women in general).
Here, 10 times Trump weighed in on women...and we were all a little worse off for it.
1. He Thinks Women Should Be Treated "Like Sh*t”
The man who’s become famous for referring to women as “dogs” and “fat pigs” also once told a female Celebrity Apprentice contestant that she must make a pretty picture “on her knees” (watch it below at 1:45 if it seems to crazy to be true).
That's not the only time he's degraded half the population: In an interview with New York Magazine in 1992, in reference to women, Trump said “you have to treat ‘em like sh*t.”
2. He’s Anti-Choice and Pro-Punishment
The Republican nominee says he's "pro-life" and, in an interview with MSNBC, he took it a step further, saying there should be “some form of punishment” for women who seek abortions. When asked if he thought men should also be held accountable for abortion cases, he said “no.”
Trump later changed his stance and said the doctor should be legally responsible, not the woman: "If Congress were to pass legislation to make abortion illegal and the federal courts upheld this legislation, or any state were permitted to ban abortion under state and federal law, the doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman. The woman is a victim in this case, as is the life in her womb. My position has not changed--like Ronald Reagan, I am pro-life with exceptions."
3. He's Unsupportive of Mothers
Despite his pro-life policies, Trump doesn’t seem to like babies very much. This week at a rally in Virginia, Mr. Trump actually kicked out a woman with a fussy infant, reports Politico.
After first making some friendly jokes when the baby started crying (as they are wont do) during his speech, Trump abruptly flipped his position: “Actually, I was only kidding, you can get the baby out of here,” he said. “I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I’m speaking. That’s OK. People don’t understand.”
4. ...And Women in the Workplace
In the wake of allegations of sexual harassment against former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, Trump told USA Today that he was disappointed, not in Ailes, but in FOX for ousting the exec. When asked how he would feel if his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, were treated this way, the Republican nominee put the burden on her, saying, “I would like to think she would find another career or find another company.”
5. ...And Working Moms
According to a CNN report, Trump threw a fit when the opposing lawyer in a court case he was involved in requested a medical break to pump breast milk for her then-3-month old daughter. In response to the working mom's request, Trump repeatedly yelled “You’re disgusting.”
6. He’s a Mean Girl at Heart
Scrolling through Trump’s Twitter feed is essentially a game of “Who Said It: Donald Trump or Regina George?” (Just check out these teen girls reading Trump’s mean tweets if you're not sure what we're talking about.)
SNL fodder aside, social media bullying is a serious issue. What happens if we have a president who not only condones bullying but also practices it?
7. He Doesn’t Believe in Sharing Labor in a Household
It will probably come as no surprise that Trump isn’t helping out at home or sharing childcare duties. According to the New York Times, Trump said this in reference to having more kids with Melania: “I mean, I won’t do anything to take care of them. I’ll supply funds and she’ll take care of the kids. It’s not like I’m gonna be walking the kids down Central Park.”
8. He Sees Women as Objects
In a 1991 interview with Esquire, Trump reportedly said: “You know, it doesn’t really matter what [the media] write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.”
9. ...Including His Daughters
According to a report from the New York Daily News, Trump made some super cringe-worthy comments about his youngest daughter Tiffany’s body when she was just 1 year old, saying only time would tell if her lady bits (in the interview, he gestures towards his chest) would turn out to be as hot as her mom’s.
More recently, Trump said this on an episode of The View when asked about his eldest daughter, Ivanka: “She does have a very nice figure. I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”
10. He Condones the Sexual Assault of Women in the Military
Trump has also taken to Twitter to address the problem of sexual assault in the military, saying “What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?” Yes, this is how a presidential candidate for a major political party is speaking about rape.
