Feminism is at a most crucial position in today's world. With so many political issues, women's rights is just one of many topics that cannot be lost in the shuffle. One person determined not to let this happen is First Lady Michelle Obama.
The #FLOTUS has been the face of women's rights all over the world so that girls and women everywhere have someone to look up to.
Let Girls Learn is an organization created by the First Lady for young girls around the world. Her mission is to bring opportunity to these girls to have a brighter future through quality education, since so many countries have refused education to girls, making it impossible for them to grow.
She has also spoken on many occasions about the oppression of women, especially in the same areas where education is limited or nonexistent for girls. She stands for all of the women who have been diminished in their culture and have been forced to limit themselves.
Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, and Tina Fey are among the many faces who have backed Michelle Obama's efforts for women, giving hope to those who need it most.
Not only does she advocate women's rights, she also includes transgender rights, giving women like actress Laverne Cox the opportunity to speak on transgender women's behalf.
All of these women, and more, who support Michelle Obama's efforts have done great things for this country in addition to standing up for women's rights. We can all take a page from their books and do what we can to support.
The First Lady hopes to abolish gender discrimination and give women everywhere a better chance to be great — which we think is PRETTY badass.
