No more awkward tampons and chunky pads? Shut up and take my money!
Sometimes, being a woman is a total b*tch. Having to go about your business while mother nature punches you in the uterus for four to seven days straight is no game. When you're constantly worried about having an "accident" leaving the house suddenly loses its appeal.
I don't know whose idea of fun this is but I'm not amused.
It's safe to say that every woman owns at least one pair of ratty, old underwear for those heavier-than-usual flow days. But what if we didn't have to pull them out as our last line of defense against the period brigade?
This is where THINX, a company run by and for women, comes in.
Designed by three entrepreneurs in New York City, THINK is seeking to change the way we talk about and deal with menstruation.
According to their mission statement, this lingerie line features menstrual underwear that is super absorbent, leak-resistant and antibacterial. No more awkward tampons and chunky pads? Shut up and take my money!
It also doesn't hurt that the designs are really cute and versatile. So far, there are four different styles that you can work with, depending on your needs and flow cycle.
Honestly, I don't think I've ever owned a pair of period undies that look as nice as these do. But the best part is the fact that the company formed a partnership with AfriPads, a company that makes affordable cloth pads for women in developing countries. For every pair you buy, seven reusable cloth pads are made for female students in Uganda.
It's about time that we stop treating our menstrual cycles like they're taboo. We need to take back our womanhood.
Here's an interesting graphic of how the process works:
