Kim Kardashian's marriage to Kris Humphries is an eternity compared to some of these short-lived unions.
Marriage is a life long commitment to the person that you truly love. Or sometimes it's just a thing that people do and it costs them a lot of money. In all honesty, some people get married just for the party, which is a dumb thing to do, because it's a super expensive party. It's also a party that begins with two people signing a legal agreement where they give up half their stuff.
The latter is a big reason that a lot of married couples stay together. People will put up with a lot of stress in order to keep a house. Money is tight and most of us can't afford to lose half of it.
That's part of why we're so obsessed with celebrity marriages: Famous people make enough money to throw the crazy party and then not have their lives ruined by the divorce. Celebrity marriages are notorious for not working out, so no one is that surprised when Russell Brand leaves Katy Perry after almost a year together. Some celebrity marriages are super short, though. I mean, if a couple can't even last 90 days together, why even bother getting married in the first place? Just have a party without the binding legal agreements. Here are 10 celebrity marriages that couldn't even make the three month mark.
1. Nicky Hilton: 86 Days
Oh yeah, Paris Hilton has a sister. We always forget about her, and I'm betting her ex-husband forgets that she exists too. They only spent 86 days together before calling it quits.
2. Kim Kardashian: 72 Days
Everyone saw this coming. When Kim Kardashian announced that her marriage to Kris Humphries was ending after 72 days, everyone was like "Yeah, we know. You're barely a real person, we don't expect you to form emotional attachments to people."
3. Pamela Anderson: 60 Days
The former Baywatch star hasn't had the best luck when it comes to marriage. Still, it probably wasn't shocking that her marriage to the guy from One Night in Paris didn't work out.
4. Drew Barrymore: 29 Days
It might seem weird now, but Drew Barrymore used to be a real wild child. While a lot of people remember her short lived marriage to Tom Green, it wasn't her shortest. She spent 29 days married to some bar owner when she was 19.
5. Axl Rose: 26 Days
Axl Rose is a weird guy. He's spent more time working on albums that no one cared about than he did married to the inspiration for Sweet Child 'O Mine, Stephanie Seymour. Their marriage lasted less than a month.
6. Mario Lopez: 18 Days
Mario Lopez was only able to hold onto his marriage with Ali Landry for just under three weeks after she found out he cheated on her at his bachelor party. Or maybe she saw that episode of Saved By The Bell where Slater responded to being called a sexist pig by calling Jessie a "hot momma?" Oh wait, that was all of them.
7. Eddie Murphy: 14 Days
Eddie Murphy exchanged vows with Tracey Edmonds, but they never legally got married. For 14 days, they pretended to be married, and then were probably really happy that they hadn't done anything official.
8. Cher: 9 Days
Almost immediately after divorcing Sonny Bono, Cher married Greg Allman. Then, almost immediately filed for divorce. Look, Cher makes decisions, thinking is someone else's job!
9. Carmen Electra: 9 Days
For a while, Carmen Electra's relationship to Dennis Rodman was tabloid fodder. They got married in Vegas, and then Carmen Electra realized that Rodman, while a valuable player on a team, wasn't worth the media hype that surrounded his antics.
10. Britney Spears: 2.5 days
Britney Spears married some guy named Jason Alexander. No, not the the guy who played George on Seinfeld, but it would have been way more interesting if she had. You know what? Let's just say that she did. Britney Spears married George Costanza for less than 3 days.
