Is Bethenny Frankel or Jason Hoppy "hoppy" with the decision?
Former The Real Housewives of New York City star and onetime talk show host Bethenny Frankel has settled her bitter custody dispute with her estranged husband Jason Hoppy. The pair, who split in December 2012, have been going mano y mano over their daughter Bryn, 4. While in a New York courtroom on May 28, Frankel, 43, even testified that Hoppy threatened to "destroy" her. Yep, it got that unpleasant and that heinous between the former couple. Will either side be "hoppy" — sorry, we had to! — with the verdict handed down today?
Well, they should be, since it has been decided that Frankel and Hoppy will co-parent their adorbs little girl.
Hoppy's attorney Bernard Clair told PEOPLE that he and his client are satisfied with the arrangement and that specifics will remain confidential. Well, duh. There's a young child involved and her right to privacy must be protected.
"My client is delighted that this custody battle has been resolved; that his co-parenting status has been acknowledged; that the parties' child will have the benefit of being raised by both parents; and most importantly, that his daughter will no longer be at the mercy of a high-profile courtroom battle," Clair said.
Clair also stated that Hoppy is ready to move on and that he "wishes Bethenny only the best of luck, and he looks forward to sharing with her all of the joyous occasions, milestones and blessings that will be coming up in his daughter's future." Let's hope he means that.
What could have turned really ugly — and incredibly public — didn't, thankfully. File closed ... for now.
As long as Frankel and Hoppy continue to put Bryn first on their priority list and as long as they put aside their differences for her sake, things should remain copasetic and livable, for Bryn's sake.
