Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are over!
The Oscar-winning actress and the Grammy-winning Coldplay frontman announced their breakup on Paltrow's GOOP website, because of course they did:
"It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.
Gwyneth & Chris"
The couple were married for 10 years, which is nearly a lifetime in terms of Hollywood relationships, and together for 11. Since their 2003 wedding, the pair have made a pact to never appear on red carpets together, so their policy of keeping things private isn't necessarily hypocritical like a lot of celebs' can be.
Paltrow and Martin have weathered quite a few storms as a couple. They've been plagued by cheating rumors (Martin with Kate Bosworth, Paltrow with attorney Kevin Yorn, both of which their reps shot down) as well as talk of Martin being miserable since leaving London for Los Angeles.
It's unclear what ultimately led the couple to call it quits, but here's hoping Apple and Moses come out unscathed.
