Tips and actions items on how to shower yourself with love.
Everyone needs to practice self-love from time to time in order to maintain a balance of our mind, body, and soul. Once these connections are understood and nurtured, you will begin to experience a peaceful state of mind.
One very important to remember first and foremost is that you are a beautiful spiritual being-unique in your own way. You have to truly believe that you are able to give the type of love you want to have as well as receive the love your heart truly longs for. For some, especially the Strong and Fiercely Independent Woman (SAFI), this will be a difficult hurdle to jump over, but it is one that has to be done in order to make positive steps forward.
Let’s take a few moments to explore your mind, body, and soul:
1. Your Mind. In order to learn to love to yourself you need to become a master of your OWN mind ~ not someone else’s…but yours! This can prove to be one of the most difficult tasks. Negative thinking tends to creep up in some shape, form or fashion every day; however it’s your job to identify the source and reprogram this thinking pattern.
Addictions. They can range from seemingly harmless problems, to severe life disruptions. To start treating yourself right, you need to master your addictions – both hard and soft. This might mean controlling what goes into your body or guarding your time spent on television, shopping, or the computer. For more information on soft addictions, consider reviewing Judith Wright’s site and take her quiz http://www.softaddictions.com/
Personal Development. The idea of working taking time to really get in touch with your truth; acknowledging and accepting ALL of you will help you to connect with the power of positive thinking. It can be as simple as starting the day with a positive thought and letting it resonate with you through the evening. There are many books and resources that can help you discover the “glass half full” mentality. One I would recommend is “Healing the Heart and Soul With Unconditional Love…5 Minutes a Day”
Relationships. Your relationships play a large role in how you judge your self-worth. Learning to identify the spirit of the person that Imageis right for you can be quite the challenge. Also, learning how to set healthy boundaries can have long lasting transformational effects. You need to surround yourself with positive people and make the best of all situations. Not sure how to set those boundaries? Register for the upcoming “How To Set Healthy Boundaries for the Holidays and Well in to 2014.”
2. Your Body. Maintaining a healthy body is just as important as maintaining a healthy mind. When you concentrate on your health, you gain energy, focus, and happiness.
Exercise/Nutrition. If you make a moderate exercise routine a part of your day, it could be enough to maintain a great body image. You can do this as simple as parking farther away from the building; taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walking vs. driving, etc. If you have weight to lose, you may wish to go through a more rigorous routine after talking with a healthcare professional. An interesting program that was very helpful and instrumental in me making the right choices as it related to food was “Clean” by Dr. Alejandro Junger, Go to the link to learn more.Remember, eating a healthy diet will energize you and make you feel great throughout the day. Strive to eat a balanced diet, but don’t feel bad if you slip up every once in a while. No-body is perfect…so be gentle with yourself!
3. Your Soul. Your soul or spirit is your life force. Your soul is where you find your peace and deeper purpose.
Religion. Chances are your personal religion will address the questions and answers when it comes your soul. Practicing your religion will help strengthen your soul. If you don’t have a religion you can still engage in activities that you find peaceful and meaningful.
Spirituality. If you don’t have a religion you can still engage in activities that you find peaceful and meaningful. What is it that you do to connect to your higher power, your “God-source?” Whatever that is, be sure to do it often. You would be surprised at how much better you feel.
Enlightenment. This is often described as a moment of revelation where you discover something about your inner self or about the world and how it works ~ sort of like your Oprah “Ah-ha moment.” You could read and write about it endlessly, but you can only continue living your life in order to experience it. Here is an interesting read for the workplace ~ Buddha 9-5 The 8-fold Path the Enlightening Your Workplace and Improving Your Bottom Line.
One activity to consider trying is yoga. It is an ancient practice that connects the mind, body, and spirit. During a yoga session you’ll go through different postures and meditation exercises. During this connection of the mind and body, you just might experience an inner calm, too. I’m still working on this one…will keep you posted on how things are coming along.
