Why the delay? And when will it finally hit theaters?!
Another day, another Fifty Shades Of Grey delay.
The film adaptation of E.J. James' sex-soaked trilogy originally had a release date of August 1, 2014, but the flick's officially been pushed back. So when can you see Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele getting it on on the silver screen?
Fans of the erotic novel will have to wait even longer now to indulge in the S&M fest, as it's slated to finally see the light of day on February 14, 2015.
Sources say that Charlie Hunnam dropping out as Christian Grey at the last minute is only part of the reason the movie's been pushed back. (We think Jamie Dornan will do a helluva fine job in his place anyway!) Other factors included the crowded summer schedule: It would have been up against Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy, which is posing to be an Avengers-like juggernaut, as well as facing global competition from the World Cup.
Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley explained, "Together with the international marketing and distribution team, we've been looking really closely at the August date and becoming more and more convinced that the right thing to do for the movie was to push it. So even if Charlie had stayed, we still would have been making the date change."
On the bright side, now you pretty much have your Valentine's Day date movie picked out already ... so you and your partner can bond over bondage. Cupid would—probably—approve!
