While the cost of a marriage license is less than $70 and that of the church ceremony is around $1,000, couples (and their families) end up spending an exorbitant $28,082 (on average) on their wedding and related events, plus an average sales tax of $1,454.

A new infographic from TurboTax shows the budget breakdown for planning a wedding, including the average cost and sales tax for wedding planner services, invitations, attire and accessories, venue and catering, flowers, entertainment and photography.
