The Most Controversial Relationships Depicted In 'The Bible'

The Bible show
The most epic relationships in the epic tale.

When The Bible premiered on The History Channel last month, everyone from your mom to your boss to your college roommate was watching—regardless of religious affiliation. The show became an immediate phenomenon with its epic storytelling and harrowing visuals, which will only become more intense as the episode featuring the Passion of Christ is due to air on Easter Sunday.

As expected, this immensely popular show hasn't been without its fair share of controversy. After last week's episode featured Satan, who was portrayed by an actor that many people felt greatly resembled President Obama, the blogosphere and Internet irrupted with people's take on the situation. Of course, the show's executive producers, Mark Burnett and wife Roma Downey, scoff at that notion.

"This is utter nonsense. The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epices—including Satanic characters—long before Barack Obama was elected as our President," they said. Roma Downey added, "Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love for our President, who is a fellow Christian."

Of course, there has been plenty of controversy on-screen, as well. Here, we look at the most controversial relationships portrayed in the miniseries thus far.
